Chapter 229: Gods And Graves Part Three

Chapter 229: Gods And Graves Part Three

Curious, Akun asked, "What do you mean? What do you know about it?"

Chrono Nexus chuckled as she replied, "Master, have you forgotten what I’m the goddess of?" She raised her left hand, pointing out her pinky finger, then gently placed it on her rosy left cheek. She added, "I’m the goddess of knowledge and time, remember."

Akun, his memory jolted, realized then let out a sigh. He then asked, "Okay, so who were those soldiers, and where did they come from? Most importantly," Akun’s tone suddenly turned cold, his gaze narrowed as he added, "What was their motive?"

Chrono Nexus’ tone also changed as she began to reveal, "Those men that were slaughtered last night are soldiers from the Leonheart Empire. They came here to acquire monster cores to power their super weapon, which they wanted to use to defend their capital from invasion."

Akun, curious, then asked, "So where exactly is this Leonheart Empire you speak of, and what kind of forces invaded them that would force them to use this ’super weapon’ you speak of?" He folded his arms, gesturing inquisitively with his right hand to his jaw.

Chrono Nexus then replied, "The Leonheart Empire is the kingdom located on the north side of the continent of Galeia. By the vast oceans."

Akun’s gaze seemed to turn even colder as he and Leandor suddenly became silent momentarily. Suddenly, Akun broke the silence, "That’s the thing about humans; they see us as monsters, things to be slaughtered to get resources. Truly despicable."

Leandor was boiling with anger; the veins in his bulky arms could be seen throbbing. He then mumbled, "How dare they, how dare they!" He roared right after as his reddish mana surged forward.

Suddenly, Akun spoke with a cold, commanding tone, saying, "Leandor, calm down."

Leandor instantly retracted his mana as he then got on his knees, placing one to the ground while the other remained upward as he bowed his head, saying, "I’m sorry, my liege. I let my emotions run wild. I will accept any punishment."

Akun then replied, "Don’t worry; it happens to the best of us, so I don’t see it as a big deal. But I would appreciate it if you refrained from doing such next time."

Leandor then replied with his head still bowed, "Yes, my liege. I will do well not to disappoint you."

Akun then replied, "Good." He then redirected his gaze at Xalender and Chrono Nexus as he assigned them both tasks.

"Chrono Nexus, I want you to rewind time in this area and bring one of the knights. Let Xalender retrieve their soul from the underworld. Xalender also bring back the ones belonging to the beast folk, let me resurrect them."

Hiandra, one of the beast folk who were successfully resurrected, was teasing Kazor.

"What is this I hear about you crying after I was found dead, huh?" Hiandra teased. Her gaze was slightly narrowed as she looked at Kazor, poking at his stomach with her right elbow and wearing a smug smile on her cat face while she walked.

Kazor, embarrassed and flustered, attempted to defend himself by saying, "Who the hell told you that?" He replied frantically, adding, "As if I would ever cry about someone like you." Experience tales at Freewebnovel

Among the trio was a deer beast folk, he then spoke up, saying, "That’s not true. You were all like, ’Damm it all, what did you have to go and die like that? Don’t you know how much you meant to me?’" He chuckled at the end, enjoying teasing Kazor about how he acted.

Kazor then spoke with a serious tone, directing his words at the deer beast folk, "Zaboguza, if you say anything else." His tone turned cold as he added, "Then I guess you will be the one who dies for real." He brought out his claws as he pointed them at Zaboguza. His claws seemed to glint under the sun light that filtered trough the leaves.

His tone sent chills down Zaboguza’s spine, causing him to visibly shiver. He took a few steps back then replied, "It was just a joke, bro. No need to be so serious about it," he shrugged, glancing elsewhere. A bead of sweat could be seen at the edge of his cheek while he tried his best to avoid direct eye contact.

Hiandra, observing Kazor and Zaboguza’s antics, couldn’t help but wrap both arms around her stomach and let out a big laugh, causing both of them to redirect their gazes at her, silently wondering what was so funny.

When she finally stopped, she wiped a tear of joy that was in her left eye and said, "You guys are always like this; it’s priceless."

Kazor then let out a sigh, deciding to redirect his gaze forward, leaving Zaboguza be. Zaboguza also sighed, relieved that Kazor didn’t decide to give him one of ’the usual’ thrashings when he pisses him off.

The three then continued walking down the path. Suddenly, Kazor broke the silence, speaking to Hiandra. His words caught her off guard, causing her to pause as she gazed at him curiously. He then added, "Be more careful next time." His cheeks flushed before he added, "If I actually never got to see you again... Well, I don’t know if I’d still be myself...

Okay." His words caused her to blush slightly as she replied with a soft tone, "O-okay."

Suddenly, Zaboguza broke the rather sweet moment, wearing a smug grin on his face as he said, "You know, I may not have the best sense of smell among the three of us, but is this love I smell in the air?" He continuously raised and lowered his eyebrows, making things feel rather awkward.

Suddenly, Kazor snapped; he punched Zaboguza in his face. It was a knockout punch, sending Zaboguza falling to the ground on his back after swirling a little. A small stream of blood could be seen coming out from his nose.

Kazor, visibly flustered, then mumbled, "T-this is the thing I don’t like about you, Zaboguza; you don’t know when to shut up."
