Chapter 156 Azure II

Chapter 156 Azure II

Azure II

"So who is your former lord exactly?" Christopher enquired as he finally began to question the origins of the being who owned this realm.

"My former lord, the Paragon of Frost, Pruina," Azure answered.

"Hm, can you tell me what he was like?" Christopher leaned closer as he awaited her answer with keen interest.

"He was... interesting," Azure said after a moment, her tone one of reminiscing.

"He was a wilful individual who believed in doing what he wanted no matter what, even if that meant getting into trouble with his peers. But he wasn't unkind, and he enjoyed walking amongst his creations. In many ways, he was a father to us." Azure explained calmly.

"Still, he wasn't being with many goals, all of which were ambitious. And more often than not, his ambitions directly clashed with the ambitions of others. As such, he had many enemies. In truth, we weren't originally created to be soldiers. Fighting was one of our functions, yes, but according to him, we were there to... fill in the gaps, as he said. It was only after he realized that even if he could handle his enemies at his level, he still needed helpers who could help him with the lesser things, which would be us.

"However, we fought for so long and fought so many enemies that we'd often forget that battle wasn't our original purpose. We were there to make it so that he didn't feel lonely. After all, he suffered from a certain curse that prevented him from being able to form bonds with anyone outside us, his creations." This statement caused Christopher to perk up. A curse?

'What sort of curse is strong enough to affect a Paragon? And why such a nefarious effect?' He pondered on it but didn't interrupt Azure as she continued to speak.

"As for his strength, well, it went without saying, he was an absolute monster. The cream of the crop among people at his rank. In fact, many times, my Comrades and I speculated that Master could break through to the Archon level at any point, but didn't for one reason or the other. Maybe it was because of some hidden injury or some other reason. That's what the others thought, but the reality was that he did not want to." This took Christopher by surprise.

"Why?" He couldn't help but ask. Sadly, Azure shook her head.

"He never told me why. Only that it would make things very complicated if he did." Christopher frowned behind his mask as he pondered on that.

'Make things more complicated? What did he mean by that?' Using those words almost made it sound like he was avoiding something.

Or someone.

Was he hiding from someone? And if so, why? Would becoming an Archon put him under their radar? Were they the ones responsible for his strange curse? Were they the ones responsible for his death?

Questions like this flashed through Christopher's mind. Sadly, he wasn't destined to receive answers from Azure since she was simply telling him what she knew.

Regardless, Christopher suddenly got the feeling that at a higher rank, things were a lot more complex than they appeared.

He sighed in his heart.

'More things to look out for in the future, I guess.' After having that thought, he tilted his head, and then he asked.

He looked back to Azure.

"That's enough, you did good." He said with a light tone and she nodded. From start to finish, she had been on a knee.

Christopher sent her back into the Primordial Expanse and sat on his rock for a while longer as he continued to think.

'Should I just speedrun?' That was his main thought.

Since entering the hidden realm, Christopher's people as well as the passive effects of his Dimension had been gradually absorbing the hidden realm into the Dimension.

It had absorbed a good amount. There was now a vast ice region on Edenveil that was rapidly growing.

But the thing was that Christopher could make things go faster.

Much faster.

The only reason he hadn't was because he was taking the time to enjoy himself.

'But as things stand, I need to be at least at the Sovereign rank by the time I leave this hidden realm. I shouldn't keep relying on my ability to stay hidden. I said it myself, there are all sorts of miraculous abilities out there, I shouldn't be surprised if there was someone out there that could pierce through all my veils with a look. I need to be stronger in cade something happens.' Christopher sighed.

He enjoyed taking things at a leisurely pace, but the story of Priun and how he met his end hit Christopher harder than he'd have liked, and he couldn't stop taking things casually anymore.

'Meh, whatever. Nothing has changed, I just need to speed up my usual pace.' With that thought, several clones materialized, each of them having white and blue hair as they were all frost-themed.

They also wore masks, but they seemed to be lesser versions of the one Christopher wore, but they would get the job done.

"Go." He said lightly and they all dashed in different directions. Unlike him, these clones weren't trying to train or hold back, meaning they would carry out their task to the best of their abilities.

As for what their tasks were? It was simple, assimilate as much into the Dimension as possible. Christopher no longer felt like being slow in that regard.

He then tilted his head.

'What's got you giggling?' He asked and a moment later, Aisha's amused voice came through their telepathic link.

'Nothing Master, I just found it funny how you just decided to be serious on a whim.' The comment made Christopher's mouth twitch, but he said nothing and stood up to continue his jogging.
