Chapter 64 Reinforcements

Chapter 64 Reinforcements

Reinforcements III

The Dwarven Kingdom was famous for a few reasons.

The first one was its unique location. It was situated underground in a massive cavern large enough to fit the entire capital, with all sorts of tunnels snaking underground to lead to its other cities.

Another thing it was famed for was the items that were produced within it. Dwarves prided themselves as the best blacksmiths and artisans in the world. From forging weapons to armour to all sorts of other interesting items, the Dwarves always spearheaded such operations.

In fact, it was their ancestors that had created the Legend Sword.

So it wasn't odd when their capital, Thragmurden, was attacked by the Voidwalkers.

They were truly deserving of their position as one of the top races in the world. Each Dwarf that defended against the Voidwalkers was the cream of the crop and had incredible capabilities.

Still, the Voidwalkers were well prepared.

For them, they didn't waste time and summoned numerous Void Creatures to handle the short but mighty beings.

As such, despite their valiant effort, they were eventually pushed back and their defensive lines were pierced through.

"GRANDMASTER RUN!" A Dwarf yelled before getting his upper body shaved clean off by a Void creature.

Several heavily armed Dwarves placed themselves between the creature and the one referred to as the Grandmaster. A robust Dwarf who was taller than his peers at the ripe height of 5'5 and had a similarly robust Aura.

He gritted his teeth as he watched the creature rip through his men like butter and wanted nothing more than to assist them, but his duty was clear. Protect the Shards no matter the cost.

He forced himself to turn away and ignore the dying screams of his men, and he ran.

He drowned out the sounds of death and focused on his goal, following a route that had been specially prepared to make for a quick and clean escape.

However, not too long after he'd gone down that route, he suddenly paused and his face tightened.

"Well, this is quite interesting." In front of him, several Voidwalkers stood in his path, their leader wielding a menacing black Scythe. But that wasn't the concerning thing.

The concerning thing was the three Void creatures that stood among them. So far, no one had been able to kill any of them or even successfully block an attack from them without getting erased.

He turned around and sure enough, there was a similar scene there and he cursed.

"Grandmaster Thoren. It would be a shame to kill Blacksmith as renowned as yourself. All we want are the Shards in your possession, so you can make this a lot easier on us and yourself if you just give them to us." The Voidwalker said calmly and Thoren snorted.

"Over my dead body." As he said that, he stretched out his hand and a large warhammer that looked much too large for his height appeared and he grabbed its handle. It was bronze with all sorts of Runes engraved on its surface and radiated an incredible power.

However, none of the Voidwalkers were perturbed and the one in the lead simply sighed.

"You said it yourself. Kill him, but keep his storage ring intact." The moment he said that, the Voidwalkers and Creatures rushed towards Thoren who yelled and circulated his Mana.

'I might die today, but not before giving these bastards hell!' He roared in his heart and prepared himself to meet their charge.

However, there was a flash.

Then there was the sound.

'Indeed. Those things can kill me. Fighting would definitely lead to my death.' However, when he had that thought, a large smile appeared on his face.

'Death by battle. How glorious!' His battle intent raged and his hands moved to his sides and he unsheathed two Katanas, one was fiery red while the other was a deep blue.

He stepped forward.

"Soldiers! We may die today, but we'll die fighting! Because we Oni never back down from a fight!" He shouted and his men instantly felt their fighting spirits ignite. If their General was fighting, why should they cower?!

They fought valiantly. But sadly, there was only so much vigour could do, and eventually, most of them were slaughtered.

In another part of the battlefield, Benimaru could be seen on one knee. One of his Katanas had been broken and he held the other one. The sheer destruction of the surrounding area was astounding, and of not for the fact that people at his level knew how to limit tye destruction they caused without losing their lethality, the damage done would be enough to encompass several hundred miles.

"General Benimaru... I'll hand it to you... that was impressive." Across from him, a Voidwalker said while panting, but eventually, he straightened.

He brandished his longsword and beside him, Void Creatures advanced.

"However, it wasn't enough." He spoke and Benimaru looked up with a wry smile.

"Heh, I'd say I did pretty well." Then he stood up as well. His armour was battered and he was bleeding heavily, but his fighting spirit hadn't diminished in the slightest.

"Truly admirable. But it will only get you so far." The Voidwalker said while shaking his head.

Benimaru chuckled and entered a stance, ready to fight to the death.

But at that moment, white and black chains suddenly appeared and bound several of the Void Creatures completely.

"Just in time!" A childish voice reached their ears as a portal opened, and from within it, two figures that looked no older than 10 years old emerged. One of them was in all black while the other wore a cute white dress.

This was off enough, but that's not what was so shocking.

'Those horns... Dragons?!' Benimaru exclaimed in his mind. Meanwhile the Voidwalker instantly went on guard.

"What business do you two have here?" He spoke and the Twins paused and stared at him.

"Who said you could speak?" They said coldly at the same time and an utterly suffocating Aura erupted from the both of them.

"Phew." After sending his subordinates to their respective destination, Christopher exhaled and stared at the corpse of the Voidwalker in front of him.

He killed him after he got all the information he wanted, then he asked the various race leaders who were getting attacked for the spatial coordinates and sent his people to deal with it.

He didn't send the leaders themselves as for starters, they were still weakened from having their Mana stripped away so forcefully, and second, they wouldn't be able to do much about the Void Creatures.

'Now to deal with the next issue.' Christopher ignored the gazes of the people around him and turned his attention to deeper within the Island. With his Runic Insight, he could see a large concentration of runes in a single point.

'Let's go meet Sinestra.'
