91 Out: Wang Tae Bin. In: Jasmine Voss
It wasn't hard to find the CEO's office on my own when it was perched on the top floor of the building.
As I stepped inside, I had to admire it. It had floor to ceiling windows on two sides, allowing its occupants to enjoy the panoramic view of the city below.
Standing by the window was the man I was here for, Wang Tae Bin. He was looking at the view with a stiff posture, his hands in his pockets but turned to face me as I entered.
"You!" He spat, his voice venomous and his face twisting into a rictus of hate. "You think you can just waltz in here and take everything I've built?"
I closed the door behind me, leaning casually against the frame. "That's exactly what I've done, Wang. And let's be honest, you handed it to me."
His face turned red. "You think this is over? You may own the company but I'm still the CEO."
"Not for long." I said conversationally, checking out My fingernails like he wasn't worth My attention. "You've run this company into the ground with your arrogance and short-sightedness. It's time for a change."
"You can't just fire me!" He snarled.
I stepped forward, tilting my head at him. "I own this company now, Wang. Not you. Don't you think that gives me the authority to make decisions, including terminating your position?"
There was silence.
"You won't." He whispered.
"I will." I nodded.
"You'll regret this." He hissed. "I built Walk Shop from nothing. I made it what it is today. But you? You're just a thief riding on your family's wealth. You'll see soon enough that you need me, Voss."
I chuckled, shaking my head. Just how megalomaniac was this dude?
"Call me whatever you want, Wang." I waved dismissively. "The fact remains that you've lost and I won. Whatever you do, you can't change that."
I grinned. "Security will escort you out of the building. And don't think about coming back."
Wang trembled with rage, gritting his teeth. He stared at me and for a moment, I thought he might lash out but then his shoulders slumped.
He turned toward the door, muttering curses under his breath. As he reached the door, I called after him.
She didn't need to look up to know who it was. Only one person dared to barge into her office uninvited.
Her elder sister, Jenny Voss.
"Jenny." Jasmine said with a pasted on smile as she glanced up. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
Jenny walked in like she owned the place. Dressed in a burgundy pantsuit with her signature purple hair styled to perfection, she looked every bit the disruptor Jasmine had always known her to be.
Her eyes landed on the discarded newspaper on the table and her lips called into a smirk. "Ah, I see you've been reading about Nico. Impressive, isn't he? Who would've thought the discarded stone would find a place to become the cornerstone?"
Jasmine kept up the polite smile on her face even as her grip tightened on the pen in her hand. "What do you want, Jenny? I'm busy."
Jenny chuckled as she circled the desk like a predator sizing up its prey. "Busy? Of course, you are. Unfortunately for you, I'm here to throw down the gauntlet."
Jasmine tilted her head in amusement. "What gauntlet?" She asked. At least, she could take comfort in the fact that her sister was still the same. All bark, no bite.
Jenny's smirk widened as she leaned forward, planting her palms on the desk. "I'm here to take back what's mine."
Jasmine only chuckled even though she wanted to laugh in her sister's face. She had to maintain proper decorum.
Her sister kept saying the darndest things. Their mother had abandoned her. She had no power to fight even if she wanted to. The shares of Apex Investment will still fall to her.
"What are you talking about, Jenny?" She asked. "Last time I checked, there was nothing of yours here."
"Then, you'll be pleased to know that mother just appointed me as the Chief Investment Officer of this company." Jenny said, satisfaction written all over her face. "So, brace yourself, Jas. I'm coming for you."
"H- How?" Jasmine muttered in shock as Jenny walked out of her office, her heels clicking like war drums.
Jenny had to be bluffing. There was no way their mother would let her back into the fold.
She reached for her phone and dialed the number of the Chairman, her mother.
She had to confirm this for herself.
First, Nico and now Jenny? War was coming.
