Chapter 20: JEALOUSY AND MURDEROUS INTENTION
There was bad blood between the River Creek pack and Khaos two years ago and as far as Zuri knew, Khaos killed one of the elders in the pack. It was enough to warrant a death sentence, but somehow, he managed to leave with his head still intact, and now he has returned.
Therefore, Zuri was a little bit taken aback when she heard his blatant offer.
"You can call me, Khaos."
"I can't do that," Zuri replied politely and then walked toward the white wolf. "Is it yours?"
"Hm." He squatted down and touched the wolf's head, as the creature stirred and nuzzled against his touch. "Mackenzie Gracelyn Mordechai the third."@@@@
"What?" Zuri frowned.
"His name." Khaos looked over his shoulder and grinned at her.
Zuri was a second too late to realize that he was talking about the white wolf. "He has a very... unique name." She was not sure how to respond to that and why she was in this situation. But, because he knew the white wolf's name, it meant he was the owner.
"You can call him, Mac."
"It's lovely." Zuri looked around her, there were two warriors on the side road.
"Do you have a pet?" Khaos stood up, as the wolf stood on all fours beside him.
"No." What the hell? Zuri tried to figure out what he wanted from this whole conversation, but she couldn't find any clue.
"Why did you do that?" Xaden gritted his teeth. His eyes were filled with malice. "That's my bloodline. Your own family."
Dacre waved his hand, gesturing for Xaden to come closer to him, but his younger brother didn't budge from his position.
"I have warned you about this. We have had this conversation before." He glanced at the street again. "You will not get her pregnant until I solve the problem with my heir."
"Rimera is pregnant. You are going to get the heir you wanted."
Dacre didn't feel secure before he could successfully produce an heir. He knew a few people wanted to dethrone him and they would make a campaign in his brother's name, especially if he had a child before him. An heir was important. A bloodline.
"There is a possibility the baby will not make it." He tsked. He had gone through those miscarriages and also had a stillborn. Unless his baby was able to survive the first year of its life, he didn't think he could say he had an heir.
"You shouldn't have killed mine," Xaden growled.
"Politics suck, don't they? I gave you the Blackthorne pack and made the union between your pack and River Creek pack happen, at the very least, you need to manage them well."
"I am managing them just fine."
"Are you sure?" Dacre nodded toward a certain sight out there. He had asked him to come over earlier, but Xaden was too stubborn, yet this time he approached him and saw what his brother had been watching. "I wonder what kind of conversation they were having. They have been talking for close to an hour already."
Down there, Xaden saw Zuri talking with Khaos and he could feel his blood boil. He said nothing to his brother when he stormed out of the room.
In less than fifteen minutes, he was already there. He walked toward Zuri and pulled her toward him, his grip on her waist was tight enough to make her take a sharp breath.
"I think it's time for us to leave," Xaden said sweetly, as he leaned over and kissed her lips and he felt this murderous intention.
