Assassin at Range: The Sniper's Lethal Power

Chapter 116 116: Dark Moon Mountains

Chapter 116 116: Dark Moon Mountains

Upon hearing Tristan's question, Seltus spoke with a hint of pride in his voice: "My Lord Shadow, you've come to the right person."

He then shared everything he knew about the matter.

According to Shadow Dragon, Shadow Power! was once widespread across the ExoGenesis continent. However, it seemed that something happened, and Shadow Power! stopped responding to the prayers of its followers. From that point on, Shadow Power! began to decline, eventually falling into its current state, where few people still paid it any attention.

As for when exactly this happened, Shadow Dragon couldn't be sure, but it must have been at least ten thousand years ago.

Tristan pondered this. Ten thousand years—such a vast stretch of time. Even immortal beings like the dragons wouldn't live that long, let alone humans from ExoGenesis. It was likely that entire dynasties had risen and fallen during that time. If Shadow Power! had been dormant for so long, then the scarcity of information made sense.

Moreover, the disappearance of Shadow Power! had to be tied to the gods in some way. Multiple factors must have contributed to the current situation.

This meant that if Tristan wanted to fully master Shadow Power! and learn the related abilities, he'd have to work many times harder than other classes. Most players could just seek out a class mentor, but even if he went to Edith, he probably wouldn't be able to get any clearer answers.

She had already helped him unlock Shadow Leap by providing information about the underwater ruins, and for that, she had been a good mentor. However, Tristan suspected Edith might know more about Shadow Power! but whether he could get that information from her would depend on his own skill.

After reflecting, Tristan asked, "Do you know where there might be any relics related to Shadow Power!?"

Shadow Dragon wracked its mind and, after a moment, cried out in excitement, "I remember now!"

Tristan's interest peaked. "Where?"

"Dark Moon Mountains," Shadow Dragon replied. It then elaborated, "According to my ancestral memories, there is a burial ground there. We Shadow Dragons go there to rest when our lives near their end."

Since the Shadow Dragon clan wielded Umbra Energy, which was a part of Shadow Power!, the burial grounds they chose were definitely not random. The Dark Moon Mountains likely held relics related to Shadow Power!

However, Tristan remembered that the Dark Moon Mountains were quite far. In fact, they were very far away. And along the way, the monsters' levels were high, with most being over level seventy. If he went there now, he couldn't guarantee his safety.

It would be best if he could reach level thirty, complete his second class advancement, upgrade some equipment, and then set out. Before that, he might visit Edith to ask if she had any more information.

With that in mind, Tristan nodded. "I'll remember that."

As they spoke, the silhouette of Eldoria City appeared in the distance. He had Shadow Dragon land, used the special summoning ability of the Dragon Pact to store the dragon in his mount space, and then headed into the city. He immediately used the teleportation array to travel to Davi City.

Edith thought for a moment before speaking. "If it was a temple, that person must have been an apostle of Shadow Power!. But if there are still apostles, it means Shadow Power! hasn't completely faded away. Why, then, is there so little information about it?"

Tristan shrugged. "I'm curious about that too."

The two of them debated the matter for a while but didn't come to any conclusions. Eventually, they let it go.

Edith asked, "And then what happened?"

Tristan was honest. "That person sent me into a strange trial space. I found the way to break through, successfully completed the trial, and learned a new ability."

He didn't specify what ability it was, and Edith didn't ask. She propped her chin up, thinking for a moment, and then said, "I've provided you with valuable information. How are you going to thank me?"

Hearing this, Tristan smiled. "Who do you want me to kill this time?"

Edith slowly spoke a name. "Viscount Channino. He's leaving Davi City in two days. You'll take him down on the road."

When Tristan heard the name, his mind stirred. He remembered that when he killed Bonecrusher in the valley, one of the prisoners had mentioned a Viscount father.

Could it be that Edith was involved in the recent goblin invasion?

If that were true, did Edith have ties to Dark Horizon?

It seemed that Edith sensed Tristan's suspicions and spoke slowly, "Viscount Channino is here under the guise of a guest, but in reality, he's colluding with the Swallowing Sisterhood to corrupt the city lord, leading Davi City down a path of decadence. We need to eliminate him soon."

Ah, so he had been overthinking it.

Back when Tristan went to the city lord's residence to claim his reward, he'd seen the lord looking drained, almost as if his life force had been sapped.

So it was the work of the Swallowing Sisterhood, after all.

Edith's efficiency was impressive.

But more importantly, who would have thought that Edith actually cared about Davi City's future?
