Chapter 8: Fight With The Wolves
Shadows of the Pack!
Tendrils of shadows slithered out from his marks as it coalesced into a dark figure that mirrored Boy's form. The spectral shadow hyena flickered with an eerie glow, with hollow eyes that were glowing with a faded neon purple.
In that instant, Boy struck again as he charged forward, his body glowing just like the shadow clone. His mouth bit straight into one of the two remaining wolves as his clone distracted it. A wet gurgle escaped the wolf as it lost a large chunk of its next and crumpled onto the ground, lifeless.

The last remaining wolf had seen the shadow attack its brethren and in that moment, it reached and big the clone as hard as it could but as it bit the clone, it felt the sensation of biting flesh for a split moment before he saw the hyena that he had bit, suddenly disappear.
As it saw the clone disappear, it then turned towards the other glowing hyena and saw its remaining member on the floor, now lifeless and strayed out on the floor.
From this moment, there were no more wolves in the den, fear could be seen in its eyes as its whole body language began to show no sign of fighting.
It let out a defeated whimper as it retreated back to the back wall of the den.
Seeing the pitiful state of the wolf, a trace of pity appeared in Boy's eyes as he saw himself. Looking at the wolf, he saw the same emotions that he had seen in himself when he was kept and bound during the ritual.
'I should let him go...' he thought as he could sense the desire to remain alive in the wolf.
Suddenly, the sound of rapid footfalls echoed from the entrance of the tunnel and through it along with the sounds of heavy panting.
Boy's eyes darted towards the entrance just as a pack of larger and seemingly stronger wolves charged straight back inside the den. Their eyes glowed with a predatory hunger as their muscles rippled beneath their fur.
Upon arrival, all of them were welcomed with the stink of blood as their noses wrinkled in disgust and they immediately presumed that it was from Boy.@@@@
However, as their eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness in the tunnel, the dead bodies of their other pack members, the older wolves and the younger ones were all strewn across the den.
In that moment, the aura on all of the wolves seemed to change as they began to growl and bark at Boy with extreme bitter hate and rage.
'This is not good...' Boy thought as he realised that he was low on Aether...
A patter of footsteps sounded next to him and he saw the poor frightened wolf, that was the last remaining in the den, rush to the side of the other wolves and group up with the rest of them.
In the instant that the wolf had grouped up with the stronger wolves, it immediately seemed to have gotten its confidence and bravery back as it joined the others in barking and snarling back at Boy.
A wave of disappointment flowed through Boy's thoughts.
This is how animals are, I see... No matter how weak and pitiful they may be alone, when they are together, their confidence rises and they will fight again.
The first of the returning wolves lunged at him with deadly precision while the rest formed a circle around him, immediately trying to attack using their pack strategies.
Boy sidestepped the wolf and in that moment, he bit down on the wolf's front leg and the moment he bit down on it, he yanked it as hard as he could and he immediately felt a cracking sensation in the wolf's leg.
However, in that exact moment, he felt a sharp pain in his behind as one of the wolves had lunged out and bit down on his buttocks. He could feel the teeth of the wolf dig into his skin.
Following that, his awareness spread around him and he could sense the other wolves also begin to charge forward.
In that moment, he realised that he would not be allowed to take them on one by one. They were going to overwhelm him with their mass in numbers.
'I need to use only killing moves!' the thought shouted in his head and in that moment his back legs jumped up, giving the wolf the strongest kick that he could.
Thwak!
In that moment, his hind leg had struck the wolf right in the head, causing it to fall down and begin convulsing.
Feeling his legs get free, he immediately let go of his grip on the wolf on his front and in that instant, the wolf retreated back but before it could, Boy rushed forward and caught him by the back of the neck and upon biting, he yanked once again.
'Claim!' he shouted in his head and in that moment, the marks that had dimmed suddenly sparked to life as Boy's mouth began to glow purple.
Shadow Bite!
In the instant that the wolf charged forward and was about to bite his head, Boy's head moved faster and in the moment that it was close enough...
Chomp! Crack!
The sound of a large bite and the cracking of a skull could be heard as Boy's mouth came down, completely destroying the attacking wolf's head, killing it instantly.

Ignoring the notification, Boy immediately turned his head towards the other wolf and used his other uninjured leg to kick the wolf, albeit weaker, it was enough to change the trajectory of the wolf's attack.
Having killed his attackers now, the den was only filled with the sounds of two convulsing wolves whose twitching had slowed down.

Boy made his way towards them and ended their misery and in that moment, he fell to the floor in fatigue. The areas where he had been bitten were hurting and bleeding, his head felt as if it had been operating in overdrive for the last few minutes.
'That's all the wolves taken care off now...' he thought peacefully.
But then he recalled, he had not heard the system notification come, telling him that he had killed all the wolves.
'System, mission status'

Realisation struck Boy as panic began to surge in his body and as if luck wasn't on his side, the mission screen updated itself.
