Doomsday: I Become Invincible By Picking Up

Chapter 20

Chapter 20

C20 – Registered Evolver

After returning home, Loong Chen escorted Loong Kui to her room. This recent episode had rattled Loong Kui, and expending substantial mental energy to awaken her remarkable talent had left her thoroughly drained.

“Brother, please don’t leave. I’m scared.”

Reclining on her bed, Loong Kui clung to Loong Chen’s hand, her grip unwavering.

“Sure thing, I’ll stay right here. Rest well.”

Gently patting Loong Kui’s head, Loong Chen watched her close her eyes and gradually slip into slumber.

The abode of Loong Chen and Loong Kui nestled in an aged residential neighborhood. This dwelling was bequeathed by their parents.

Not long after Loong Kui’s birth, Loong Chen’s parents vanished, leaving behind meager assets barely sufficient to sustain their lives until now. They endured some tough times.

However, the present differed from the past. Endowed with strength, Loong Chen resolved not to subject Loong Kui to the hardships of yesteryears.

“I’ll register as an Evolver with the Evolver Alliance tomorrow.”

Within his thoughts, Loong Chen pondered.

By simply enrolling as an Evolver, he’d secure a fixed monthly financial allowance.

Moreover, rumors reached Loong Chen’s ears that registration as an Evolver could grant access to a concealed cultivation technique.

To qualify for Evolver registration, individuals had to meet a baseline of physical attributes akin to the limits of an ordinary person—around 300 or so.

At this stage, these individuals were known as substitute evolvers. Only after mastering a secret technique would they earn a chance to advance as official Evolvers.

Loong Chen speculated that more than half of these aspirants would ultimately face failure.

The present time saw a considerable influx of test-takers. A lengthy queue had formed, yet Loong Chen exhibited no signs of impatience. He willingly stationed himself at the back of the line.

“Your strength only registers at 150 kg. You don’t meet the qualifications. Next!”

The tester’s voice echoed from the front.

The testing procedure encompassed evaluations of strength, speed, reaction time, and defense. Satisfactory performance was required in each category.

“Your speed isn’t up to par. Next!”

“Your reaction time falls short. Next!”

“Your physique isn’t up to the mark. Next!”

Almost every twenty participants, only one managed to barely qualify, causing the number of individuals ahead of Long Chen to steadily dwindle.

As it neared Loong Chen’s turn, a gruff voice rang out near his ear.

“Stand behind me. Allow me to test first.”
