Chapter 430: Bloodline Infusion
Chapter 430: Bloodline Infusion
Bingyin sighed. "Risk and rewards go hand in hand and among you all, Lin Feng is definitely more knowledgeable about what is dangerous for him, so getting worried for him is pointless..."
Everyone understood that but they couldn’t totally suppress the worries in their hearts. Everything else aside, they had been taking care of Lin Feng when he was unable to cultivate and because of this no matter how much he had changed, their hearts had grown a little protective of him.
"Grandmother, how is your condition?" Xuan Xue finally spoke, she had stayed quiet till now.
"Not bad, I can feel my vitality recovering even if it isn’t much right now..." Bingyin moved her slightly injured wing.
Hearing that made everyone sigh in relief, they wanted her to get healed as quickly as possible.
"Let’s go out a little bit, I haven’t left this cave for decades now..." Bingyin didn’t want to miss this chance before she went into another slumber.
"As you wish, grandmother..." Xuan Xue opened her spiritual sense to the extreme for the first time.
She was able to sense everything around her and the feeling was different too.
Before advancing, the spiritual sense would only give a representation of objects which had spirit qi or blood qi inside them, now she could clearly see the shape of even things which didn’t have spirit qi.
She didn’t know exactly how it worked but for the time being she didn’t care and carefully examined the whole area under her spiritual sense to find any prying eyes.
"There is no suspicious individual nearby, don’t worry, Xue’er..." Bingyin had already considered that and finally began walking.
"Grandmother, let me down..." Mu Yao felt that she might implicate some trouble for her grandmother while walking so she wanted to come down from her back.
"You are lighter than my single feather, Yao’er, just stay there..." Bingyin smiled.
Mu Yao obliged and hugged her tighter, she liked the aura of her grandmother quite a lot.
Lin Feng and the others followed Bingyin and they came out into the open.
Bingyin laid her eyes on the sky before looking towards the sect. "There was a time when I thought that I might perish due to this wound..."
Bingyin really felt a little melancholic about her recovery.
"I wasn’t afraid of death but dying when my enemies were thriving in peace was something which always made my icy blood boil in rage. That’s why I didn’t want to just die without doing anything and by chance I met Wang Yuyan.
I never thought that I would be taking a human under my wing but that was my only option given the urgency, not to mention, although humans are weak inherently, their potential is definitely enviable.
Wang Yuyan wasn’t naturally gifted with a physique but her comprehension ability was impressive, so I went ahead and infused her with my blood essence."
Lin Feng raised his eyebrows slightly when he heard that. Fusing with primordial beast bloodlines was one way to attain a special constitution but the chances of succeeding were very low.
He had only heard of a few cultivators in his past life who were able to successfully do it, with only a few among them actually having one of the strongest primordial beast bloodlines like his grandmother.
The reason was simple, if the beast bloodline was weak then it wouldn’t be able to transform the cultivator’s physique into a special constitution and would quietly perish in the body but if it was too strong then it wouldn’t be subdued easily and would wreak havoc in the cultivator’s body, effectively crippling them.
The balance was the key here and finding that balance was very hard. You couldn’t underestimate yourself and you also couldn’t overestimate yourself.
"Given your expression, Feng’er, you definitely know the dangers of infusion with strong primordial beast blood essence... yes, it is fatal and Wang Yuyan would have certainly died if I hadn’t suppressed my own blood essence in her body for many years till it naturally got integrated inside her."
Lin Feng nodded inwardly. That was perhaps the best way to succeed—having the primordial beast whose blood one wished to infuse personally assist in the process. However, such a notion was nearly impossible in itself.
Primordial beasts weren’t something that humans could tame into submission and befriending them was also not possible given the fact that beasts inherently hated humans.
His grandmother and their founder’s case was just unique.
Xuan Xue and the others were aware of their master having their grandmother’s bloodline but they weren’t aware of its implications.
"The reason why I did all that was to make Yan’er walk the path of revenge but as I lived more days with her, I gave up on that thought as I couldn’t bring myself to make her walk towards her self destruction. There was no way a human even with a primordial bloodline could go against a whole race of primordial beasts, it was impossible through and through.
I have to say that even in my dreams I wouldn’t have thought that I would develop such empathy and deep connections towards a human but Yan’er made it happen.
So, in the end, I just quietly stayed while trying to heal myself and watching her journey... maybe it was her cheerful personality which kept me from falling into the gloom of death and giving in to my injuries.
Nonetheless, one day I finally felt that the deadly wound inflicting me was weakening... and here I am, recovered to the extent that I can walk again without worsening my condition..."
Bingyin closed her eyes and enjoyed the faint sunrays from the evening sun.
Xuan Xue and the others suddenly looked at each other, today for the first time they had heard about her thoughts of revenge and this made them believe that their grandmother still harbored that thought.
They didn’t mind her having that thought as it was something no one could forget but they also didn’t want her to take any risks after she had finally escaped the fate of death.
