Chapter 3: I Have a Mother Now

In her dream, Bai An'an dreamed that she had turned back into a boy. As she was preparing to leave the orphanage, Mrs. Gu and Gu Xue took her in, giving her the first person she could call "mother" and someone who could accompany her through life.

Eventually, she would marry Gu Xue and have a child. Perhaps later, Gu Xue would work outside the home as a young and beautiful professor, while she would be a house husband, taking care of their child and waiting for her beloved to return home.

Just like that, they would reach the end of life without any regrets.

But as the dream gradually faded with her awakening consciousness, despite Bai An'an's desperate desire not to leave this perfect dream, it was no use. She opened her red eyes.

Sitting up, looking through the window at the sunlight on her little dress that only young girls would wear, and the black long hair spread over her shoulders, reality reminded Bai An'an that it was just a dream.

But when she arrived at the cafeteria, an unexpected scene appeared before her. The few children of the orphanage were sitting in the cafeteria, including Gu Xue who should have been at school. Mrs. Gu, seeing her arrival, smiled and patted the seat beside her, with a look of satisfaction in her eyes.

It was as if everyone present had been waiting for her.

What's going on?

Seeing such a strange scene, Bai An'an carefully recalled her previous life, but no matter how hard she thought, she couldn't remember any such serious occasion.

Especially since Gu Xue, the genius girl, hadn't gone to school and was waiting for her.

Mrs. Gu took over from Gu Xue and enthusiastically put several dishes into Bai An'an's bowl.

"Let's eat first, and then we'll talk after the meal."

Mrs. Gu rubbed Bai An'an's little head, and Bai An'an, not knowing what to say, could only eat her food in small bites.

"An'an, I know what you're thinking, but let's go home first. When we get home, I'll tell you why I had to leave you back then."

"Now, can you call me 'Mom'?"

"Hmm..." Bai An'an looked at the big sister in front of her, thought for a moment, and then nodded, calling out those two words in a soft, sweet voice.

"Mom."

After saying it, Bai An'an took a deep breath. Including her previous life, it had been twenty-four years, and she had finally said those two words she had been longing for.

But why, after saying it, didn't she feel happy? It was completely different from when Gu Xue called her mother...

"Mmm~ good girl. I've already completed the paperwork with the director. Let's go home now."

Hearing Bai An'an call her "Mom," Bai Xuerou nodded with great satisfaction, then picked up her daughter and walked out of the orphanage. As soon as Bai An'an came out, a red Rolls-Royce was waiting at the entrance.

"Xue Xue, your phone number. I'm afraid I'll never see you again."

Bai An'an said haltingly, tears in her eyes.

Hearing this, Gu Xue immediately ran back to get paper and pen, wrote down her mother's phone number, and handed it to Bai An'an.

"Xue Xue, I'm leaving. If there's a chance in the future, I'll find you."

After putting the note Gu Xue gave her into her pocket, Bai An'an said goodbye to Gu Xue, her former "moon," and returned to Bai Xuerou's side.

Seeing that her daughter had settled her concerns, Bai Xuerou smiled radiantly, carried Bai An'an to the back seat of the Rolls-Royce, and went to the front seat to drive.

As the eye-catching red Rolls-Royce disappeared from sight, Gu Xue silently clenched her fist.
