Chapter 597 - 597: It's not too late to wait until Miko is satisfied first
Chapter 597 - 597: It's not too late to wait until Miko is satisfied first
"It really isn't?" Mobius looked rather surprised."Of course it isn't!"
Not expecting Mobius to actually believe that, Lumine hurriedly spoke up to deny it.
Of course, if Mobius enjoyed doing it that way, that was her own business.
Hold on...
She isn't planning to keep using my form to do that for a while, is she?
Forget it, forget it...
Either way, Kaito is bound to figure out eventually that it wasn't really me...
Sigh...
The only thing I don't know is whether Mobius will let Miko and me go...
Thinking and thinking, Lumine found herself wondering whether Mobius would let her and Miko go.
No matter what, Mobius had already accomplished what she wanted to do — she ought to be satisfied now, right?
Hmm...
She isn't going to want to keep doing that kind of thing, is she?
Since she herself had done that kind of thing before, Lumine was guessing along these lines.
If that really were the case, then she and Miko could probably only wait for Kaito to realize that the one beside him was actually Mobius.
And more crucially, when that time came, would Mobius decide to silence the witnesses?
Maybe I should just ask her?
Looking at the Mobius standing in front of her, Lumine felt she should ask Mobius what she planned to do next, and exactly what it would take for her to release her and Miko.
And just as Lumine was thinking this, Miko, off to the side, noticed something of her own.
Oh dear...
If this little brat ends up staying around Kaito too...
I'm afraid Kaito alone won't be enough to wear her out...
She just did that kind of thing a moment ago...
And yet she doesn't look the least bit tired right now...
Or could it be...
That Kaito was actually too tired today, so he didn't really get to drain this little brat's stamina?
Thinking this way, Miko sank into contemplation.
Based on her experience, after doing that sort of thing one was generally pretty worn out, and at minimum needed a nap to recover.
But Mobius was different. Right now she didn't look the slightest bit tired — in fact, she looked about the same as she had earlier, as though she hadn't done a thing.
"Never mind, I'm not you anyway." After staring at Lumine for a long while, Mobius finally just said "never mind," as if Lumine were the strange one — which left Lumine completely speechless.
Shouldn't I be the one saying that line...
At Mobius's words, Lumine couldn't help thinking that.
But thinking it was one thing — in the end she said nothing aloud.
Hm?
All at once, Lumine felt her suspended hands being lowered.
Is she letting us go?
Reflexively rubbing the hands that had been strung up for quite a while, Lumine immediately thought this.
After all, Mobius had already done the thing she most wanted to do, so it really was about time to let them go.
But at the same time, Lumine couldn't help feeling a little worried — worried that Mobius was about to do something to them.
"You're letting us go?" At this point Miko just came out and asked the question directly — she was thinking pretty much the same thing as Lumine.
"Yep. You two can leave." Mobius nodded with what looked like utter seriousness.
"You're serious?"
Worried that Mobius might be plotting something, Lumine asked.
"Of course I'm serious. What did you think I was going to do?"
Looking quite puzzled, Mobius gazed at Lumine.
"You realize that once we head back, you'll be exposed." Miko wanted to know what Mobius would do next.
"Whatever. Once you're back you can keep pretending nothing happened, or you can blow my cover — up to you."
Mobius looked completely indifferent.
Pretend nothing happened?
Hearing Mobius put it that way, Lumine suddenly grew curious about one thing: namely, if she and Miko went back and didn't say a word, she wondered whether Kaito would treat her any differently.
"And what about you? You're just leaving, just like that?" Miko asked again, because she still hadn't gotten an answer about where Mobius was going next or what she meant to do.
Of course, she might not get answers to those two questions either, but she had to at least try.
"Yep. Leaving." Nodding again, Mobius indicated she was about to go.
She's really just leaving, just like that?
Was this whole trip really only to do that kind of thing with Kaito? Casting her mind back to what Kaito had said about Mobius earlier, Miko always felt things weren't that simple — but Mobius clearly wasn't about to tell her the real purpose now.
"Alright then, let's get going, Lumine."
Knowing she wouldn't get any useful information out of more questions, Miko decided to head back first and talk about it later.
"Okay." Answering, Lumine hurried after her.
But just then, Mobius called out to them.
"Let me see you off." The moment she finished speaking, Miko and Lumine felt the surroundings turn dreamlike, as if in an illusion, and in the next instant the two of them were already standing in front of the little courtyard.
"We're back." Looking at the familiar surroundings, Lumine realized she and Miko had returned.
As for Mobius, she had vanished off to who knows where — her figure was nowhere to be seen nearby.
"Are you two heading out?"
Just then Kaito came walking over from a distance, looking as if he had only just returned from going out himself.
Kaito...
Everyone's safe...
Watching Kaito approach her and Miko, Lumine was completely set at ease.
"Where did you go?" By now Miko had already gone forward to meet him, and Lumine hurried to keep up.
"I went out with Zhongli to check on the harbor for a bit. Also, Miko, about tonight's plans — let's push it back a little. I mean, this afternoon I just spent some time with Lumine, so... you get the idea."
Lumine: ...
Knowing exactly what Kaito meant, Lumine was about to bring up the matter of Mobius.
But right at that moment, she suddenly felt her foot being stepped on from behind by Miko, and at the same time Miko spoke up: "Sure, no problem, pushing it back a bit is fine."
Lumine: "???"
"Miko..." Taking a step forward, the bewildered Lumine still felt she really ought to bring up the Mobius matter.
"Aiya, Lumine, you've already had your fill, so it's my turn now, you know." Before Lumine could even open her mouth, Miko said this in a tone of feigned helplessness, while throwing Lumine a wink.
Lumine: "..."
Watching Miko wink at her, Lumine was speechless.
Setting aside that the Mobius matter still needed to be brought up, more importantly — when exactly had she gotten her fill?
That was Mobius just now, not the real her.
But never mind — it wouldn't be too late to wait until Miko had had her fill before saying anything.
Glancing at the already somewhat darkening sky, Lumine silently thought this.
In any case, if Mobius happened to show up in the meantime, then there'd be no need for her to say anything; otherwise, she just had to wait.
"Let's head inside, then." Saying this, Kaito walked off into the little courtyard, and after exchanging a glance, Lumine and Miko followed in after him.
