Chapter 2631: Mutation
Chapter 2631: Mutation
Every woman harbors a heart filled with jealousy. It’s simply a matter of whether she chooses to show it.
That lake, Hiddy knows well.
During her time at Demarco Mount, she hasn’t remained idle.
Whenever she has some free time, she observes her surroundings.
The map is the thing that accompanied her the longest when Julius Reed wasn’t around.
That lake had been untouched for years, and now Nine Nether True Monarch says it was once the Nine Provinces King’s Residence.
The dangers within are self-evident.
Hiddy disliked Julius Reed risking his life for other women, but she couldn’t stop him.
People are inherently selfish.
"Perhaps I can go in your place," Dragon Dancer said, standing behind Nine Nether True Monarch, pointing at Jessica and the others: "The three of us have virtually no opponents in this world."
One is the Empress of the first Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance, another is the sister of the Nine Provinces King, and the last is a True Monarch.
Though all of them have suffered varying degrees of power decline, it is indeed difficult to come up with a more luxurious ensemble.
"Marcellus Lopez is dead; your only opponents are Silvio Reed and the Church."
Dragon Dancer chuckled, "The Church is unaware of this, so there shouldn’t be any danger for the three of us."
Ancient ruins, a dragon’s pool and a tiger’s den.
The dangers inside are unknown to anyone.
Perhaps it’s merely a deserted ruin.
Or perhaps it’s fraught with peril.
"You stay here and help Hiddy control Demarco Mount. I must go personally." Julius Reed shook his head, walked over to Dragon Dancer, adjusted her collar, and softly said, "I’ve always wanted to discover my origins. Now’s the chance—can I pass it up?"
"Take care of yourself." Dragon Dancer nodded, giving a bitter smile, and kissed Julius Reed on the cheek.
She knew once this man made up his mind, there was no changing it.
Words would be useless since he couldn’t be dissuaded.
"Hmph." Seeing this, Hiddy felt a pang of jealousy, but considering her current status as a Sacred Master, it wasn’t appropriate to say anything.
"Mr. Reed, the plane outside is ready," reported one of the Wolf Cavalry members outside the door.
"There’s no time to lose, let’s set off."
Julius Reed approached Hiddy, gently kissing her on the forehead, "Take care of yourself; I’ll be fine."
"Mm." Hiddy blushed slightly, and her previous displeasure vanished.
The Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance has its own airport and several planes.
An armed helicopter slowly rose, heading toward the direction of the lake.
"Old Julius, have you ever thought about why the one you’re looking for wanted to go to that lake?" Nine Nether True Monarch inquired.
"It’s too out of the ordinary. Imagine, someone who had never been to the Nine Provinces Residence actually went there. Either she had some memory implanted, or it’s Silvio Reed’s doing."
Seated on the plane, Nine Nether True Monarch analyzed while gazing at the landscape below.
Finding the Nine Provinces King’s Residence is indeed a good thing.
After arriving in this world, aside from Jessica, Nine Nether True Monarch felt very much out of place.
If he could visit those past locations, it would fulfill his sentimental desires.
"Silvio Reed only wanted Quella Radcliffe to look for him. Coming to this lake was clearly not something Silvio Reed anticipated." Julius Reed was confident that while he was in Silvio Reed’s consciousness sea, Silvio Reed did not notice.
Thus, coming here was something Silvio Reed was also unaware of.
The plane soon reached the surface of the lake.
However, it could only hover.
Very embarrassingly, there was no place for the plane to land.
"Lower the altitude a bit."
Nine Nether True Monarch stood at the plane’s cabin door, looking at the lake water below.
The altitude was over two thousand meters.
"No!"
Julius Reed shook his head, "If there’s something in the lake, it could be very dangerous. It means getting back would be difficult."
"But it’s too high right now. If we don’t understand the situation on the lake’s surface and drop down hastily, it would be even more dangerous."
Nine Nether True Monarch explained his thinking.
"The lake covers the Nine Provinces King’s Residence below. Think about it, wouldn’t a place with such abundant spiritual power give rise to some supernatural beings? If there’s a water dragon, we’ll all be in trouble."
"There’s no place to exert force!"
"Alright," Julius Reed squinted, staring down at the lake, "descend to one thousand meters."
He drew the Emerald King’s Sword from his waist, remaining alert to the scene below.
"This sword..." Jessica noticed the sword.
"Silvio Reed found it. It seems to have a significant history." Julius Reed presented the sword to Jessica.
"It’s my brother’s, the Nine Provinces King’s sword, symbolizing royal power." Tears welled up in Jessica’s eyes.
Times had changed!
Seeing the sword brought back numerous memories.
"That sword represented royal authority back in the day. The Nine Provinces King was incredibly renowned, yet in the end, he perished in the calamity." Nine Nether True Monarch, having lived another lifetime, suddenly felt relieved.
Seeing the sword evoked profound feelings within him.
Fortunate yet unfortunate.
In any case, live each day well.
The plane descended slowly.
The rotor blades parted the mist on the lake’s surface; they could almost see the lake’s appearance.
The lake is not very large.
About two kilometers in diameter, circular in shape.
The Nine Provinces King’s Residence had suffered devastating damage back then, and perhaps the formation of this lake was also related to that disaster.
Suddenly, a sharp screech echoed.
"Increase the altitude!"
Julius Reed’s Divine Eye remained unaffected by the mist.
He sensed a creature was attacking the plane!
The pilot attempted to swiftly ascend, but it was too late.
"I’ll go down first!"
With the Emerald King’s Sword in hand, Julius Reed leaped straight from the plane!
He grasped the sword hilt with both hands, using the Divine Eye for positioning, and directly struck down towards that thing below!
Thud!
Julius Reed landed on a massive fish face!
The Emerald King’s Sword pierced through the fish’s head and went inside!
But the blade was too short to kill this creature, which measured over ten meters long.
Fortunately, it slowed the upward momentum, allowing the helicopter to ascend safely.
Splash!
The fish plunged into the water.
Julius Reed fell on the water’s surface.
Apart from the enormous splash, the lake surface was eerily calm.
The lake water fell gently like rain.
As expected, the abundant spiritual power within the Nine Provinces King’s Residence had indeed spawned many peculiar things.
Similar to the massive change when Julius Reed eliminated another persona of his.
Both mice and cats grew significantly larger.
What might lie beneath the lake is anyone’s guess.
Julius Reed treaded on water, his Divine Eye scanning the lake surface.
He noticed numerous large creatures beneath the water!
The nearest one was right behind him.
With a thunderous roar!
A shrimp burst forth from the water, charging straight at Julius Reed!
But just as it was about to emerge from the water, Julius Reed turned around.
He swung his sword in a slash!
Boom!
The sword blade unleashed a storm of Sword Qi across the sky!
Directly slicing the giant shrimp in half!
Plop.
Nine Nether True Monarch and Jessica also landed on the water surface, standing beside Julius Reed.
"What a huge shrimp!" Jessica exclaimed with excitement in her eyes, "I want a hotpot!"
