Chapter 77: Asking for Trouble
Chapter 77: Asking for Trouble
"Commander, the Roman Empire warships are activating their shields and weapon systems."
"Jones, order the fleet hiding in the Capitol to capture all those members of Congress alive! We're entering hyperspace."
"Yes."
When all the Roman warships opened fire on the besieged Alpha fleet, they discovered that the lasers fired by their own fleet had hit the hulls of friendly ships, and the enemy fleet had vanished into thin air. If the friendly ships hadn't urgently called for a ceasefire, the friendly fire might have been even more severe.
All the Roman warships turned their detection power to the maximum, but still found no trace of the enemy ships.
Just as they were speeding up their exploration, they suddenly received an order from the Commander-in-Chief to go to the Imperial Parliament Building immediately.
As a result, warships from the interstellar fortress space concentrated on the planet where the parliament building was located, and a large number of troops rushed over from the outside. Groups of fighter jets roared over in the air, completely surrounding the parliament building on this planet.
The Commander-in-Chief surveyed the chaotic parliament center, with rows of guards lying on the ground. These guards hadn't been killed, but merely knocked unconscious. When they regained consciousness, they were still trembling, their eyes lifeless, revealing expressions of terror, as if they had encountered a demon.
Shortly after, the surveillance footage from the parliament center was released. A group of "Humanoids" descended from the sky. Though called "Humanoids," these beings were humanoid and incredibly fast. These "Humanoids" split into two groups. One group charged directly at the guards, quickly dodging their laser gun fire. They deployed energy shields with their left hands and rapidly struck the guards with their right, knocking them all unconscious. As they fell, the guards fired their laser guns wildly, some even hitting the councilors. The other group of "Humanoids," while using energy shields to deflect the lasers aimed at the councilors, pounced on Speaker Roca and the councilors, grabbing them under their arms. The two groups of "Humanoids" soon converged on the stage, taking the councilors with them, and disappeared into a blur of light and shadow.
The commander-in-chief of the Roman fleet checked the recording time; the entire process lasted less than two minutes. Only when the last two groups of "humanoids" converged in the video did it become clear that they were highly realistic intelligent robots.
"Commander-in-Chief, something terrible has happened! A large number of Star Luo warships have been spotted heading towards the Star Fortress."
The commander-in-chief was immediately overwhelmed and saw stars. Luckily, a bodyguard caught him, otherwise it would have been embarrassing if he had fallen.
"Pass on my order: activate the three-layered defense perimeter during wartime."
"As ordered."
The Commander-in-Chief hurriedly left the Imperial Parliament Building, arrived at his flagship under the escort of numerous fighter jets, and then sped towards the front line, which was 200 billion kilometers away from the Star Fortress. A large number of Roman fleets had already appeared at the front line, ready to fight the Star Luo people.
On Earth Empire's Alpha Fleet, Lefia was being guarded by Earth Empire's intelligent robots and isolated in a large room, which was basically arranged according to the layout of Princess Sva's room.
Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan watched the Roman councilors gathered in a huge conference room on the monitor. The councilors were also watching a holographic video, which was showing their commander-in-chief searching for them. Then the camera cut to the commander-in-chief leading the fleet to wait for the Star Luo fleet at the front line of the interstellar fortress. The camera then showed a large number of Star Luo warships jumping out of warp space and confronting the Roman Empire fleet at the front line.
Just as the Roman councilors were whispering amongst themselves, Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan walked in, followed by Lefia, who was escorted by robots.
"Everyone, I'm truly sorry, but I think you can all sense that a great battle is approaching, right?"
"Earth messengers, what do you mean? Are you taking us hostage?" Roca questioned Zhou Yuan.
"I wouldn't dare say that. I just hope that your two families can have a good talk and work together to fight against Lydam."
"Hey, Zhou Yuan, I don't want to cooperate with these scoundrels!"
Who are you calling a villain?
"I was talking about you guys, so what?" Lefia pouted.
The congressman was furious; he stood up and then sat down again.
"Earth's messengers, aren't you going to participate?"
“Speaker, we are not your allies.”
"Our parliament has just discussed and is prepared to accept you as allies."
"Oh, so fast?"
There was indeed some misunderstanding before.
"Princess, are you really unwilling to form an alliance with the Roman Empire?" Zhou Yuan stared intently at Lefia.
"I said I didn't want to."
"What if it's against our Earth Empire?"
"Well, I can consider it."
"Alright. Kids, we don't need these arrogant and selfish councilors anymore. Let's put them back in their original positions."
"Yes, Master." A group of intelligent combat robots escorted the Roman Empire's councilors out of the conference room.
When the members of parliament returned to the parliament building's conference center, they all seemed to be sleepwalking, with a gap in their memory.
"Commander-in-Chief?"
"Speaker?!"
"Where are you?"
"More than 100 billion kilometers away from the Star Fortress, the Star Luo warships on the front line are gathering in greater and greater numbers."
"What?" The speaker was taken aback, thinking to himself that this was bad.
Since the Star Luo people know that the interstellar fortress is here and will cause endless trouble in the future, it is more important to drive the Star Luo people away for now, and we can consider moving later.
"Commander-in-Chief, what are you waiting for? Are you waiting for their reinforcements? Concentrate your forces and wipe them out."
"Yes, Mr. Speaker."
The Roman Empire warships charged forward, while the Star Luo Empire warships accelerated, heading straight for the Roman warships. Upon reaching firing range, both sides unleashed a barrage of lasers, their energy shields shimmering. Due to the sheer number of Star Luo Empire warships, each Roman Empire warship was surrounded by at least five or six Star Luo warships. A fierce battle ensued, with warships being destroyed and disintegrated amidst the laser barrage. These dismembered metal fragments drifted rapidly between the warships. Using these fragments as cover, both sides maneuvered and launched rapid counterattacks. As the wreckage multiplied and the battle intensified, more Roman Empire warships were drawn from the interstellar fortress to join the fight, gradually suppressing the Star Luo fleet's frenzied offensive.
Just as the Roman fleet at the front was preparing for a major counterattack, bad news arrived: the Star Luo warships and the outermost Roman escort fleet of the Star Fortress had already clashed, and a large number of Star Luo warships were heading towards the Star Fortress from different directions. The number of these Star Luo warships was truly enormous, like a swarm of locusts that blotted out the sky.
"Princess, you Star Luo people are a bit abnormal, how come you have so many warships?"
"You're the pervert."
"Alright. Princess, could you please keep an eye on your fleet over there in the Milky Way? They've been harassing us terribly."
"Really? Haha, I'll bother you every day from now on. Sister Shan, you don't mind, do you?"
Wei Shan nodded, but then shook her head. Princess Lefia's personality was somewhat similar to Aya's.
"Hmm, I haven't seen them for over five hundred years. I wonder if they still listen to me."
"More than five hundred years?" Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan looked at each other in bewilderment.
"What's so strange about that? They've been stuck on Sva for over five hundred years, they were so bored. Thank goodness you came. I must repay this favor."
“Alright. We’re all monsters now.” Zhou Yuan couldn’t help but think that humans on Earth now have a lifespan of over four thousand years.
"Princess, shall we contact your fleet now?"
"No rush. Let's sort things out here first."
"Oh, then tell me how to settle this?"
"I need to communicate with the Star Luo Empire fleet."
“We can do that.”
In a short while, a Star Luo warship communication video broadcasting system was set up.
Lefia cleared her throat first. "Ahem, is anyone there? This is Princess Lefia of the Star Luo Empire. If you hear me, answer me. This is my order!"
"Is it Princess Lefia?" a voice asked softly, seemingly incredulous.
"Which idiot is talking? Can't you even recognize your princess's voice?"
"I am Ryder, Princess, is it really you?"
"Hey Zhou Yuan, how do we video call? This kid doesn't trust me."
Zhou Yuan fiddled with it for a while, and suddenly a face of a Star Luo person appeared on the holographic screen.
"Ryder, you're getting younger and younger."
"Ah, it really is Princess Lefia. Princess, weren't you on Sva? How come..."
"Ryder, it's a long story. I've been kidnapped by the Romans!" Lefia shouted at the holographic screen, her voice hoarse as she tried to be.
"Damn Romans! Princess, we are annihilating them."
"You're such a pig-headed idiot! I'm a hostage of the Romans!"
"what?!"
Ryder seemed to realize his mistake as well. "Thank you for the reminder, Princess. Otherwise, things would have been very bad."
Two minutes later, all the Star Luo fleets ceased their attacks on the Roman fleet and the interstellar fortress. The Romans were also puzzled. Since the Star Luos were no longer attacking, the Romans dared not provoke them again, as a large fleet was still rushing towards them.
The two fleets once again engaged in a long-range standoff.
Ryder hesitated. He couldn't bear the responsibility if a rash attack led to Princess Leifia being killed by the Romans. He could only wait for further orders from the Supreme Commander of the Star Luo Empire, Leidam. Until the orders arrived, he could only watch helplessly as the Romans moved the twelve Earth-like planets in the interstellar fortress one by one out of the area and into warp space.
Just as Ryder was hesitating, he received a video. Good heavens, the supreme commander of the Star Luo Empire, Rydam, had personally led a large fleet to arrive.
"Your Majesty, why have you come in person?"
"Ryder, how is Princess Lefia?"
"Your Majesty, the princess appears to be unharmed."
"I want to have a video call with her."
"Yes, Your Majesty. I will transfer you to the other end."
"You must lead your team to pursue those interstellar fortress planets and their escort fleets and destroy them at all costs. This is my order."
"Yes, sir." Ryder led a large fleet into warp space, following the Roman Empire's relocated planets and escort fleets.
When the commander-in-chief of the Roman fleet saw a large number of Star Luo fleets jump into warp space, he also prepared to send warships in. However, all space within this two-hundred-billion-kilometer-diameter area was locked by Lydam, making warp space navigation impossible.
