Chapter 797: "You're Not A Human"
Chapter 797: "You're Not A Human"
Chapter 797: "You're Not A Human""You are a big bat who can talk, so why is it not normal to see a talking cat? Talking about double standard..." Seeing Batman's eyes widen, Jerry couldn't resist making a joke.
Bruce Wayne, Gotham City's richest playboy by day and Batman by night, risked his life to fight criminals and try to make Gotham a better place. Jerry admired Batman's dedication, especially since he had no superpowers and relied solely on his training and gadgets.
However, admiration aside, Jerry did not agree with Batman's no-kill policy.
He understood Batman's fear that crossing that line could make him the very thing he fought against, losing his moral compass. However, the consequence of this principle was that criminals often escaped from prisons and mental hospitals to commit crimes again, which led to the endangerment of more lives.
While Jerry respected Batman's beliefs, he didn't expect to change his mind. Everyone has different experiences and philosophies.
Jerry simply believed by taking care of the problem from the root itself would be a more efficient way compared to how Batman approached his problem.
As long as Batman didn't interfere with Jerry's efforts to restore his power by earning red stars, they could coexist peacefully.
"I'm not a big bat; I'm a human. And you're not a human. There is a difference between us," Batman argued.
Batman thought for a moment before replying to Jerry's words.
He had never raised a cat and was unsure how to understand a cat's thinking. Taking Jerry's joke literally, he replied seriously.
"You're not a human, and your whole family isn't human either!" Batman still continued by taking Jerry's joke literally.
Jerry grinned, amused at being taken so seriously. "Okay, I know you're not a big bat. It was just a joke. You are too stiff for your own good, Batman. If there's nothing else, I'll be going."
He spread his little wings, preparing to return to the hotel to digest the little red stars he had earned.
However, just as he took off, another bat dart flew towards him.
"You can't leave. Tell me why you killed them and where you came from." Batman asked in his deep raspy voice.
Batman thought that a talking, flying cat that could kill eight brutal criminals in an instant was too dangerous to roam around Gotham City without understanding its origins and motives.
Jerry dodged the bat dart and landed again, sighing in exasperation, "It's very simple. Those people were bad guys. You should know this better than me. The crimes they committed warranted death many times over. I was just saving people. As for my origin, there's no need for you to know."
"They are indeed guilty, but they shouldn't be killed like that. Their fate is to be sent to the law for trial and spend the rest of their lives in prison." Batman replied firmly while walking toward Jerry.
Batman's frown eased a bit upon hearing that Jerry was saving people, but he began to lecture Jerry on his own principles.
Jerry interrupted, "Stop, stop, stop. I know what you're going to say. Let's cut to the chase. What do you want to do?"
Jerry was more tolerant of people who posed no threat to him.
Another series of bat darts came flying, and this time Batman himself rushed towards Jerry. "I will make you come with me to the police station in one way or another!"
He aimed to grab Jerry while he dodged the bat darts and then used the electric shock device in his bat belt to stun him.
"Whoops! Now you are playing too dangerous, Batman!" Jerry retorted.
Of course, he also remained vigilant for the sharp arrows Jerry used earlier, which could appear at any moment. But his bat suit was no ordinary material; it could even block bullets.
Although those steel arrows were sharp, they might not cause him any harm even if they did hit.
"Okay, I don't have time to play with you anymore. I'm leaving!" Jerry said as if he finally had enough of this cat and bat chase.
Jerry didn't dodge the flying bat darts. Instead, he used his cat claws to split them into several sections and threw them down.
As for Batman, who was soaring towards him like a big bat, Jerry flicked his tail, tied him up like lightning, and forcefully threw him back.
Batman reacted quickly. As he was thrown away, he pulled out his grappling gun and shot it at the cement on the roof, trying to swing back towards Jerry.
However, a blue light suddenly shot at him, and his body transformed into a cute yellow Garfield cat, falling into the Batmobile with a confused expression.
Jerry had cast a transfiguration spell on Batman at the moment he threw him.
As an ordinary person without any magic resistance, Batman was entirely vulnerable to the spell. According to the spell's principle, once transformed into an animal, he would live with the consciousness of that animal until he reverted back to human form.
Two minutes later, the yellow Garfield cat, who was licking its paws, trembled and returned to the form of Batman in his battle suit.
By this time, Jerry had already flown away, leaving no trace.
