Chapter 193: Ch.192 Don’t Want to Understand
Howard Stark nervously stroked his mustache, pushing his sunglasses up onto his head while staring at the experiment chamber.
"Did the experiment succeed? I feel like it probably, maybe, kind of succeeded...right?" he gritted his teeth. But at the critical moment, the equipment had overloaded due to the strong electrical current, making it hard to say. "I hope I didn't turn that scrawny guy into a roast turkey... that would be kind of gross, man."
In his mind's eye, he saw a Thanksgiving dinner scene with his family gathered around a table, the fire from the hearth casting a warm glow. The table was set with an abundance of food, and everyone was smiling.
Then, as they lifted the polished silver cover from the dish, they revealed a charred Steve Rogers...
Howard quickly shook his head, trying to dispel the disturbing thought.
He reassured himself, "I'm the best physicist in the world. There's no way I could fail."
Su Ming silently moved behind him, unnoticed by Howard, whose focus as a scientist allowed him to ignore what was happening around him.
The Deathstroke simply stood behind him, both men looking up at the experiment chamber slowly opening.
However, Su Ming had already pocketed the last vial of the super soldier serum and was carrying Dr. Erskine over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
Hiss
The chamber opened with a puff of white steam. It almost looked more like a steam cooker than a biochemical experiment chamber.
Howard, however, felt a wave of relief. As long as there wasn't any black smoke, the person inside was probably still alive.
"Mr. Stark, what's going on here?"
Howard didn't even turn around, still watching the experiment chamber. The steam blocked his view, and he anxiously awaited the outcome.
"This is because the radiation saturation generated heat, and since the environment is cold, the air condensed upon opening the chamber, creating fog."
"Oh, I see." Su Ming, standing behind him, nodded knowingly while pretending to understand. Howard was truly amusing.
As the chamber lid fully opened and the steam dissipated, it revealed a strong, muscular body—covered in rippling muscles and a glossy, oily sheen on the naked upper body.
"Alright, good luck with that."
"Oh, I'm not trying to sleep with actresses! Wait, who the hell are you?"
Howard, still with a cheeky grin on his face, turned around, babbling his denial, only to find himself face-to-face with a massive man in black and yellow armor—Deathstroke.
Erskine was slung over the man's shoulder like a bag of potatoes, his remaining few strands of hair waving gently in the air.
The smile on Howard's face froze instantly. He noticed the gun aimed at him.
He glanced at Colonel Phillips and Peggy Carter, who looked at him sympathetically. Now you understand, don't you?
Howard closed his eyes in frustration and shook his head at them. I don't want to understand.
"Mr. Stark, I just came to introduce myself today. You're a very ambitious, patriotic scientist. Here's my card. If you ever find yourself in trouble, come to me, and I'll make sure you're satisfied."
Su Ming lowered his gun, casually handing Howard a business card.
"So, who are you exactly?"
"Deathstroke, mercenary. So, I should warn you: all my services come with a fee. If you can't pay up afterward, you'll die a horrible death."
"Uh...okay."
Howard numbly took the card, watching as Deathstroke casually strolled past him.
Having taken what he came for, and enjoying the show, it was time for Su Ming to leave. There were many more matters to attend to.
Carrying Erskine, he headed for the observation room stairs, planning to retrace his steps.
"Stop! Put the doctor down!"
Su Ming turned his head. Steve had woken up. He leaped out of the experiment chamber, barefoot, and charged toward Su Ming.
