165- Overall Situation
Chikara was looking at the Gling units around the Solont planet and felt satisfied that her fleets could be this formidable.“This is our first debut in the void. Battling the other spaceship using Suiciders sure is great but the cooperation between Silisk is paramount for this battle in the void.” Chikara opened her mouth before she continued.
“But for landing, leave that for the Crawlers or the Ghoul. Hmm, that should give our race an advantage, unlike others.”
As she managed her race, Dian had to oversee the entire situation on his side and on the enemy side since he was the highest command. This Star Battle truly had entered another phase, as two planets of the enemy had fallen into his side.
Leif managed the development of technology. Even when in Star Battle, some of the research and development had to continue.
Ghylea managed the Undead Race. Now that they had managed to participate in the Star Battle and with the help of the humans’ strengthening agent, managed to neutralized the anti-undead measures taken by the Rodents.
Frie was in charge of the intelligence coming and going from the battlefield.
Mazdari became the one who had to manage the planets under the Federation in the Star Battle along with Arowana.
Goliath managed the logistics of the entire Cerulean Defense Force, seeing the flow of where things should be used or knowing where there were shortcomings in some things.
Smirth on the other hand, handled the development of the transcendent tree as well as the news about the Neurax Worm.
The threat that the Neurax Worm had on the entire civilization was now reduced to just an annoying worm at most due to the development of a certain virus that could infect and cause the Neurax Worm to die without affecting the host.
Now, this ‘cure’ would be spread to the entire body of the Federation without exception.
-
On the Cerulean Planet, Smirth was looking at the research institute where the virus was being developed. This facility was specifically made to study and develop the virus from all sorts of environments.
He could see that several scientists were writing reports about the effectiveness of a certain virus against the Neurax Worm.
“That Star Child is really good at research and development. Although she is not proficient in combat but her contribution is no less than the others. MY Star Child on the other hand…” Smirth lightly laughed when he thought about his recently gotten Star Child.
Ever since reaching the Third Rank Planet Master, the quota for the Star Child had increased dramatically—this both surprised and concerned all the Planet Masters on Dian’s side.
While an increase in the number seemed good, it could also mean that the planet's fortune and the civilization's destiny seed had increased so much that it was a bit overwhelming.
Smirth was glad that his race finally could develop another Star Child but at the same time felt exasperated at the action of the particular individual.
Charlene on the other hand handled what became her greatest expertise so well that it raised the standard of the Federation.
She even helped with the modification of the virus so much so that her fellow scientists had to retry the test for accuracy.
It was because the virus developed was so effective that the Neurax Worm died when infected with the virus. It could even spread to other Neurax Worms that it basically was a bioweapon against the Neurax Worms.
At this moment, Charlene had done with the reports and decided to go back to the dormitories prepared by the Federation for her. Of course, for an influential person like her, there had to be a bodyguard.
“Big sister-in-law!” After Charlene got to the entrance of the research institute, she was greeted by someone familiar.
Charlene smiled after seeing the person. This person inherited the task of guarding Charlene from . She had become a transcendent after the Ether, one of transcendent energy suitable for living beings were introduced and she became one through Federal testing.
Charlene patted her head and said to the black, long-haired woman in front of her, “Nene, thank you for escorting me.”
Nene had become a peak Core Formation Realm transcendent, just half a step into the Revolutionary Realm.
“Hehehe, Big sister-in-law doesn’t need to worry. As long as I am here, your safety will be my matter.” Nene said while sticking out her tongue.
“I know.” Charlene then stopped patting Nene and walked to the dormitory which was quite close to the research institute. Although it was close, the distance covered by walking was significant. But for a transcendent, that was no different than the neighbor's home.
Nene was walking beside Charlene the entire time, escorting her dutifully. She did this because she knew that her brother would worry about Charlene’s safety and Nene volunteered for the role of being escorting Charlene.
After some time, they arrived at the dormitory building. The building had already existed a century ago but its structural integrity was still as good as that of the other recently built buildings.
There, they met someone familiar.
“Hello Charlene, hello Nene. How’s your day?” Annie greeted them with a smile, waving her hand excitedly.
Charlene nodded while Nene replied, “Hello, sister Annie. Are you done with the design of the spaceship you talked about before?”
“Yes. Fortunately, it is more efficient without sacrificing its main performance. What about you?” Annie replied and then asked.
“Well, the virus has been successfully designed according to our needs. We don’t need to worry about the Neurax Worms invading our civilization.” Charlene replied proudly. She was proud that her efforts were contributing to the civilization but she also became aware of her elevated status and remembered what her husband once said.
“Don’t let anything get to your head, even your achievement. Give credit where it's due.”
Charlene knew that to be true. She should not let the achievement she had got to cause her to be conceited.
But she knew that she should at least be proud of her achievement since she had a hand in it.
“Really? That’s great. I heard that the frontlines are having some problem with the Neurax Worms so I thought that they need to halt their advance.” Nene said with excitement.
“After we mass-produced the virus, we planned to send it to the frontline first. They need it more than us here.” Charlene said while going to the front of her room.
“Uhm. Do you believe that this virus can completely eliminate the Neurax Worms?” Annie asked.
“Of course. Because the effectiveness of the virus is guaranteed. But the question is whether to completely eliminate the Neurax Worms or not…that is another issue we often discuss.” Charlene said while grabbing the key to her room and unlocking the door.
Annie’s room was exactly next to Charlene’s so she also quickly opened her door.
“As usual, you can come to my dorm if you want.” Charlene said to Annie.
Nene kept her guard up since she was the one escorting Charlene. But one thing that surprised her was that…
“Come in. You can enter my dorm, you know.” Charlene said while her red eyes stared straight at Nene.
“Eh? Wouldn’t that be inconvenient for you?” Nene shook her head and waved her hand in front of her in denial.
“No, you just came here doing your duty so I should be thankful and please make yourself comfortable.” Charlene said as she entered her dorm.
Nene blinked her eyes before she let out a sigh. Then she decided not to refuse and entered Charlene’s temporary dorm.
The dorm was not large, enough for a dozen people to live in. Every room had been designed to be more effective and efficient in its usage. There were sofas and a table in the guest room. Further inside was the living room, where there was a television that was actually just a screen, showing that the television did not take up much space.
Charlene then prepared some light snacks and two cups of tea while Nene looked around. Although she could use a mental scan to analyze the room, seeing with her own eyes was better for her.
“Wait a moment, I’ll prepare something for you.” Charlene said while slightly raising her voice so that Nene could hear.
Nene giggled and sat on the sofa in the guest room. Just as she was waiting for some time, a knock on the door could be heard.
Then Nene realized that Sister Annie was the one who knocked on the door. She looked like used to this and Nene knew that both Charlene and Annie were best friends and they often visited each other, even being specifically placed together so that they could unleash their full potential.
This was the preferential treatment that the Federation had considered and since it could increase the two’s work performance, they allowed it.
She then became the one to open the door since Charlene was still busy.
When Nene opened the door, Annie was waiting there. She was standing, but her height was a bit lower than Nene so she had to look up, which caused her to be awkward.
“Please come in. Big sister-in-law is preparing something for us.” Nene said warmly.
“Thank you for letting me in.” Annie did not hesitate with politeness and instantly entered Charlene’s dorm.
Then the two sat on the sofas in the guest room. At the same time, Charlene had finished preparing some snacks and two cups of tea and presented them on the table in the guest room.
“Alright, let’s discuss something important.” Charlene said at the beginning of the discussion.
“What should we discuss? The anti-Neurax Worms we have developed will be spread around. The optimization of the spaceships is also underway. The spaceship manufactures as well as the infantry weaponry are in good shape.” Nene said, knowing this after inferring from both Charlene and Annie.
“What I want to discuss is actually the current situation on the frontline.” Charlene said with a serious face.
Nene’s expression became stunned while Annie’s eyes shone brightly.
“What is it? Did he tell you something?” Nene was the one asking something. She felt that her brother was the one telling Charlene about things to consult with.
Charlene nodded with a heavy expression.
“Currently on the Solont planet, undercurrents are using the civilians as a force to protest. Although the Federation has suppressed them, they are still testing our lower limit.” Charlene said while clicking on something in her wristwatch.
Then the hologram projected images of the Solont planet, where civilians were gathering and protesting, while Federation soldiers tried to avoid civilian casualties and suppress the protest.
“Woah.” Nene was surprised to see that the enemy citizens even dared to do this. The three of them knew that there was someone instigating this to happen.
“Is the perpetrator captured?” Annie asked.
“There are some but not all of them sadly.” Charlene shook her head as if she knew the result without even being informed by the people there. Seeing the information sent by the people there only solidified her thought into certainty.
“I hope that our soldiers there handle this matter carefully. Otherwise, this can turn ugly real fast.” Annie commented.
“Yes. I also heard that my brother is there. What will he do when he sees that?” Nene wondered.
“He will most likely stop things before they go too far. Of course, he would also likely arrest the remnant of the military who caused this. The protest could be pure in intention, but it was more likely that it was hijacked by someone to do their bidding.” Charlene said something that all of them knew had happened in the past.
That was what the Federation wanted to prevent. That malice hidden in intention was what the Federation often faced, and they usually dealt with it carefully.
Smirth was once again amazed by the insight that Charlene had. He had been watching her for some time and he could say that she was the mind of the whole Federation at this point. The mind that was directed toward the development and well-being of the people of the Federation.
“Even their discussion is insightful. She knew how things would develop and even knew the source of the problem from some information alone.”
Smirth then kept watching over Charlene.
“Do you know that I have a top secret information?” Charlene suddenly said.
“What’s wrong with that? Do you want to share it or something? Isn’t that supposed to be top secret?” Annie asked.
Nene nodded vehemently. Even she knew that the top secret information should not be discussed lightly.
“No need to worry. I trust that you all will be able to keep your mouths shut and not spread it to others. Why do you think I have isolated this dorm with my power?” Charlene smiled, her eyes formed a crescent as she said this.
Nene and Annie noticed that there was an isolation barrier separating them from the outside world.
“But why did you do this? There has to be a reason, right?” Nene asked, unsure what was going on. But one thing was for sure: this matter would be connected to them indirectly.
“Right, right. What is it that you want to tell exactly?” Annie tilted her head left and right.
Charlene smiled as she said, “Well, this is also the action taken by the Federation’s permission and was related to the Star Battle.”
“Explain it in detail. What is it that has to be kept secret?” Annie realized that Charlene had the right to tell some people, provided that the people were trustworthy and could keep it.
“Well, while the main force of the Federation is stationed in Solont planet, another force, specifically the Undead Race and the transcendents with the Necromancer’s Trait, is attacking another planet. This planet is a military planet and…the Federation permitted them to annihilate it.” Charlene explained.
Nene realized the serious matter while Annie nodded in understanding.
Annihilating the main force of the enemy was preferable. That was why the Federation permitted this. If they did this to the civilian, then there would be problem integrating the citizens of the enemy when the Star Battle concluded.
“Meaning, all the military forces there are going to be eliminated by the Undead race.” Nene had to take a deep breath. She imagined that the living beings there were slowly corroded by the undead element and turned into the undead.
“If my guess is correct, then Master Long Wu should be the one who spearheaded the attack. Along with race leader Zhask.” Annie said while grabbing a snack, put them into her mouth and chewed them with relish.
Charlene raised the corner of her mouth slightly as she saw Annie’s action and Nene’s reaction.
“That is correct. But do you know why this action has been taken?” Charlene gave the two a question.
“Uhm, because they wanted to end this battle as soon as possible?” Nene tried to guess and so she gave one of the most reasonable reason.
“Good. That is part of the plan.” Charlene nodded in agreement.
“To showcase the prowess of the current Undead Race. They have been in quite a few problems before. The fact that they now permitted to act means that the anti-undead measures can be countered and the undead will not face any formidable opponent.” Annie said convincingly.
“As expected of you, you know one of the core things that the action signifies.” Charlene clapped her hands as she was glad that they had discussed this matter.
Bottling up these matters would undoubtedly cause her to slip up, might as well share them with the trusted ones so that there were some topics to discuss.
“Then, is there another reason why the Federation made this move?” Nene decided to ask since she did not know what else the reason the Federation wanted to achieve.
Charlene put her index finger on the corner of her mouth and said, “How about this, can you see the star chart of the enemy territory?”
Then she used the wristwatch to display a certain map on the enemy star system. There, some planets were revolving around the orange sun in the distance. Some Federation fleets were on the Solont planet while the Undead Race attacked Zenollium.
Nene and Annie could see clearly that Solont was the planet where the economy was booming, while Zenollium was the military planet where the enemy's main force had gathered.
“I see. We forced the enemy to make a decision. Either they take the initiative and attack Solont to liberate it, or they prepare for a defensive battle.” Nene said.
“Right. Although most of their forces are obliterated, but the rest are on their main planet, Rodentia. Look at the map.” Charlene pointed to the place where the biggest red dots had gathered around the planet called Rodentia.
Annie focused on the movement of the red dots and realized that they had moved to defend their main planet.
As for the other planet that the Rodents barely managed to colonize, they were pulled out from those planets and focused on Rodentia alone.
“But this move will be troublesome for them, right? The refugees from the colony planet will make it harder for the citizens of Rodentia.” Annie said while putting her hand on her chin.
“Apparently, they wanted to create something called expendable soldiers. From the scattered intelligence gathered by the frontline, there is something called ‘Accelerated Growth Serum’. Do you know what it is used for?” Charlene asked.
Nene and Annie shook their head. Although they had the idea that the thing was supposed to make the growth of something faster but the details still needed to be discussed.
“Alright, sorry for not putting the details.” Charlene said as she saw the curiosity and the confusion in their eyes.
“That thing…is used to accelerate the growth of their own and the other races.”
