Chapter 212: No choice

Chapter 212: No choice

Unami and Kara fought valiantly, their strength waning as they struggled to contain the uncontrollable beast-like movements within Baktou.

As Unami's vision blurred from exhaustion and tears, she could feel the weight of despair pressing down on her. "Kara, we can't hold on much longer," she gasped, her voice strained. "He is much stronger than we thought. He doesn't care about the wounds that we give him, he is no longer human,"

Kara, barely standing herself, nodded in agreement. "We need to end this before it's too late. I feel like I'm going to faint any moment now." At her answer, Unami could only ask one thing."But how are we going to do that?"

They kept talking with each other, while skillfully avoiding getting hit by Baktou's ruined hands which leaked blood, as if he was a waterfall of blood. Both of them knew the moment they got hit by his massive hands, it would be the end for them.

Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, a strange stillness enveloped the battlefield. The clash of weapons ceased, and even Baktou's frenzied movements came to a sudden halt. Unami and Kara exchanged bewildered glances, unsure of what had just occurred.

Amidst the eerie silence, Unami's attention was drawn to a massive black hole that had materialized behind the unconscious Kalina who was already on the verge of dying because of how badly hurt she was.

Despite having the power of DNA syringe and the knowledge about the modern arts, the things she could do were minimal because of how selfish her goals were and as a result now she lay on the floor almost dying.

In the meantime, a mysterious figure, adorned in a lab coat and wearing a surgical mask, emerged from the void. Unami's heart raced as she took in the unexpected sight.

"Who... who is this woman?" Unami stammered, her eyes fixed on the enigmatic newcomer. She knew this might not be a good turn of events, but also she wasn't ready to let a stranger deal with them.

The woman raised a gloved hand, gesturing for silence as if she knew what was going on. "My name is Dr. Mia Baker. I am here to put an end to this madness. As I thought he went berserk after the system left his body...but I guess that's to be expected since I kept his DNA under control."

The woman who appeared was talking to herself, but quickly her attention went back to what was really happening.

Unami's mind raced with questions, but before she could voice them, more individuals wearing lab coats emerged from the black hole. Alongside them were stern-looking military personnel, their expressions conveying a sense of authority.

Kara, still clutching her dagger, eyed the newcomers warily. "What's going on? Are you here to help or hinder?"

Dr. Mia sighed, her masked face betraying no emotion. "I am here to rectify a grave mistake. Kalina went rogue, and her actions threaten not only your world but many others as well. I will take responsibility for that. Take everything and go back right now. If you do that, I will look the other way at least for now."

Amidst the grief and despair, Gundo's attention was drawn to the hologram of Eva that Garnt had given her. The holographic image flickered to life, revealing Eva's worried tone and her sadness.

[Gundo, listen carefully. There might be a chance to save Garnt, but we need to act quickly. Reach into the quick first aid kit he gave you and look for a small vial filled with a red liquid. It's a special healing concoction he developed. Inject it into Garnt's body immediately!]

Gundo, though paralyzed by grief, snapped into action, fumbling with the first aid kit. She located the vial Eva mentioned, a small container resembling a string filled with the mysterious red liquid and she quickly identified what this healing concoction was.

"But this is... DNA syringe...that Garnt hated...I can't.." Gundo tried to say something, but then she quickly realized Eva was a woman who loved Garnt just as much as she did so taking strength to her heart and body, she quickly loaded the vial into the syringe. "I will do it,"

[Inject it into Garnt's heart, Gundo. It's his own idea to keep one of these filled-in cases they needed to use it, a healing medicine that might bring him back. Trust me, we don't have much time.]

With newfound determination, Gundo grabbed the syringe from the kit and carefully injected the red liquid into Garnt's chest, aiming for his heart. The liquid flowed into his body, and for a moment, it seemed like nothing was happening.

Suddenly, a faint gasp escaped Garnt's lips. Telvi's tear-filled eyes widened in disbelief as colour slowly returned to his ashen face. Gundo, still holding the syringe, looked up at the holographic Eva with a mix of relief and astonishment.

[He's breathing! Gundo, you did it!]

A weak smile formed on Gundo's face as she continued to watch over Garnt but deep inside she felt like she was having the best time of her life, as she was able to breathe again knowing Garnt was not dead.

The once lifeless body now showed signs of returning vitality. The syringe worked its magic, knitting together wounds and restoring life to the fallen leader.

Telvi, overcome with a surge of hope, clutched Garnt's hand as he stirred back to consciousness. The battlefield continued its chaos, but in this small corner, a moment of victory was achieved against the tide of despair.

"I'm glad! I'm glad you're back, Garnt. I will never let you do this again." Telvi shouted, as her blossom kept Garnt's face between them safely.

As Garnt opened his eyes, Gundo wanted to ask how he was doing but then Telvi started to feel Garnt's body getting heated and started to twitch.

"Gundo, what's happening? Why is he getting hot?" She asked and Eva had only one answer to give them.

[It is starting. The DNA is starting to assimilate with his body and sooner or later, he will either become so strong that we won't be able to catch him or he will become a beast that will go berserk just like Baktou.]
