Chapter 338 Section 336 - Training Hall
Chapter 338 Section 336 - Training Hall
For nearly half a century, mutants have wreaked havoc upon the Ocean Continent.
However, the locals quickly adapted, living off the mountains and rivers, radiation, and eating mutants.
The Ocean Continent possesses the world's largest Radiation Wine Cellar, offering uniquely flavored wines aged through nuclear processes.
The people here indeed consume mutants—of course, only those that have passed safety tests and are edible, and they even taste quite good.
Naturally occurring radiation is ubiquitous, and as long as it's within the safety threshold, it won't significantly affect human health. However, one must be wary of unscrupulous merchants who sell cheap, highly radioactive mutant ingredients, putting people at risk—a scenario akin to eating pufferfish happens almost every year.
"No need! Sorry, excuse me, I'm a local, I'm heading home."
Chen Fei, dragging his luggage and pet shipping box and accompanied by Little Bird, broke through the crowd of salespeople, hailed an autonomous taxi, and headed to a hotel where he had reserved a room.
He was an old hand at this; as soon as he claimed to be a local, the salespeople immediately backed off, as Chen Fei looked like a college student returning home rather than a tourist or businessperson who hadn't done their homework.
On the airship, Chen Fei had already booked a batch of survival necessities and equipment essential for the Ocean Continent; all branded goods, quality assured. He reckoned they should have been delivered to his hotel room by now, waiting to be unpacked and checked.
...
Habulav was located in the central hinterlands of the Ocean Continent, surrounded by mutants, with danger lurking at every turn.
As the headquarters of the Blue Star Global United Defense Committee, there weren't many regular flights, just a daily one-time passenger and cargo transport airship service.
Since most passengers were either employees of the Committee or related personnel, and the airships operated as official vessels, there was no fare. Ordinary people wouldn't be tempted by the free ride to such a dangerous place, where a moment's carelessness could cost one's life.
The transport airship carrying Chen Fei had barely landed when the specially ordered radiation detector spiked slightly, showing an increase of a dozen units. Though the ambient radiation levels still lay within the safety threshold, the presence of radiation was unmistakably abnormal; this was Habulav, a place once heavily struck by nuclear attacks.
This was no pleasant location: a high wall encircled the entire Habulav, bristling with automatic fire platforms, both anti-air and ground weapons.
Beyond the wall lay a vast minefield, with both ground and aerial surveillance systems operating 24 hours, and the frequency of air patrols far exceeded that of any Aircrew Base. Almost always, a Combat Flight Squadron would be in the air.
To some extent, Habulav was not only the headquarters of the Blue Star Global United Defense Committee but also the largest Aircrew Base on Blue Star, comparable to top-tier military facilities of sovereign states—it was essentially a massive military camp.
Chen Fei understood this. The region around Habulav was far more dangerous than other Aircrew Bases; en route alone, the transport airship had encountered two attacks from Mutant Flying Species. Fortunately, the airship was not unarmed and released several missiles, promptly shooting down those foolhardy mutants from the sky.
Riding in a shuttle, Chen Fei quickly reached his destination for registration.
Located on the 48th floor of a hundred-story skyscraper in Habulav's A2 zone, he knew he was in the right place as soon as the elevator doors opened and he saw the newly made brushed stainless-steel sign, "Bear Hunting Special Operations Division", and the directional signs; it seemed the entire floor was theirs.
As he exited the elevator, he was met with the new brushed stainless-steel doorplate of the "Bear Hunting Special Operations Division", likely indicating the whole floor along with directional signs.
This "bear" was probably a "Water Bear".
Chen Fei had arrived early, and the registration area seemed to have been set up recently, with a few details still somewhat disorganized.
"I am Chen Fei!"
No sooner had he introduced himself than the blond elder sister at the registration threw a card at him.
"Take this card to the training facility in C4 zone for testing. If you don't pass, return the card and leave within 24 hours. Got it?"
Surely straightforward and direct...
Indeed, Habulav, rife with mutants in the surrounding wilderness, was not a place for ordinary people.
But Xiao Jiu skillfully dodged away, displaying a prideful demeanor that suggested it was to be admired from a distance but not to be trifled with.
On normal days, apart from Chen Fei, the number of people who could touch this little guy could be counted on one hand. With just a call from Daddy Chen Fei, it would immediately fly back, even Chef Abel, who adored it the most, would jokingly call it "the little ingrate."
"Let's go! Let's head to Area C4 first!"
Chen Fei was not at all worried about being unable to find the training hall.
Detailed maps of the entire Habulav were everywhere. At the airport, he had already snapped a picture on his phone, and besides, he could always ask for directions along the way, he was sure to find it.
Upon exiting the building, they hailed an unmanned taxi and went straight to Area C4.

In fact, without asking anyone for directions or looking at a map, the taxi automatically delivered them to the seemingly large football stadium that was the C4 training hall.
The training hall was the largest building in Area C, from C1 to C9, all had the same exterior. Or perhaps, the entire Area C was the training area.
According to Habulav's functional planning, Area A was the administrative area, Area B the residential area, Area C the training area, Area D the military area, and then there were the confidential and controlled areas, Areas E, F, and G.
It seemed as if artificial intelligence AI had locked onto Chen Fei and Mouri Misono. Upon entering Area C4, a guidance system automatically appeared, leading the way to the C4 training hall, where they stored their personal belongings before continuing further into the hall.
A massive dome covered the sky without a single pillar, and beneath it, an open area as large as a standard football field was mostly empty except for a tall, burly black man who was already waiting there.
Hearing their footsteps, he slowly turned around.
"Chen Fei, Mouri Misono, welcome to this place, I am the interviewer, Babylon."
His face was emotionless, showing neither happiness nor sorrow, and his eyes remained closed from beginning to end, with no intention of opening them to take a look at the two newcomers.
"Hello, Mr. Babylon."
Chen Fei slightly bowed out of respect.
The adjacent Mouri Misono, however, bowed at a ninety-degree angle.
"I am Mouri Misono, I look forward to your guidance."
"Introduce your personal abilities and specialties. This is very important, please do not hide anything."
The black interviewer Babylon was just like the receptionist sister, straight to the point without any superfluous words.
Mouri Misono looked at Chen Fei, who nodded immediately and said, "I am a Grade B Metal Ability User, specializing in copying mechanical products."
Grade B supernatural power user?
Mouri Misono's eyes widened, only one level below Grade A, but that was still very impressive.
She quickly recovered, bowed again, and said, "I am an Eighth Rank Wind Series Ability User, wielding dual swords, specializing in Unlimited Ripping Slash!"
Wow!
Now it was Chen Fei's turn to be surprised.
The seemingly delicate young lady who he had wondered how long would cry if slapped was actually an Eighth Rank War Professional. He felt a shiver down his spine and was relieved that he had held back; otherwise, he would've surely ended up being pinned down and crying pitifully.
