Strongest Superhuman System

Chapter 556: What Am I?

Chapter 556: What Am I?

Once Mark left the room, Luna crouched low and put her hands over her face. She couldn’t believe it. This was really happening.

Luna didn’t even know when she started to cry, and Arit just walked up to her and crouched beside her before giving her a hug.

"Thank you, Arit... sniff~ Thank you so much. I’ll never hurt either of you, I promise."

Luna was a crying mess, and Arit just held her tight and allowed her to cry for a while. When Luna finally stopped, Arit smiled before getting up and handing Luna a sieve.

"I know you won’t hurt us, that’s why I trusted you. Now come on, we have to try and save as many of these cupcakes as possible."

Luna chuckled and cleaned her eyes with the back of her hand before grabbing the sieve to start making the new batter.

But just before she was about to grab it, her phone rang, and she gave Arit an apologetic smile as she went to pick it up. That was probably someone from her guild, and she couldn’t ignore it because of all the issues America was facing right now.

Arit smiled and went to continue the meal while Luna picked up the phone and started to talk to one of her vice-captains about where to focus the guild members for the rescue operations.

...

After breakfast, they had all gone out to help in the rescue efforts that were still ongoing all around the country. Mark didn’t want to go out at first because he knew he would face a lot of attention due to the ’Vanitas Sect’ that had suddenly popped up.

From how all the maids and butlers in the mansion had been acting, Mark knew that the people on the streets would also treat him like some sort of god.

Stop this shit, you crazy people.

The other superhumans around were a little surprised by the sudden reverence that the non-superhumans had for Mark, but they didn’t question it since they understood. They were all sure that if KING had survived the battle against the Armageddon all those years ago, then he might have been treated in the same way. There was no way the entire country wouldn’t seek Mark out after what he did.

...

[Meanwhile, Somewhere In The Desolate Coast, East of The Russian Peninsula]

The turbid waters, infested with debris, garbage, and disease, smashed against the eastern wall of the coast. The air was thick with a white fog that carried with it the smell of rotten corpses, and the loud cries of crows flying overhead were the only thing prevalent through the area.

A hand reached out from the edge of the coast and grabbed onto the land, pulling a body out from the ocean and onto land slowly.

Its body was humanoid in design, and yet it was very obvious that it was anything but human. Its body was lean and tall, standing at almost three meters (10 feet) in height with muscles rippling beneath its lean physique. There was a hole in the middle of its chest, like it had been cut out perfectly, leaving only a cylindrical intrusion.

It was hunched over, but after glancing around with red, glaring eyes, it slowly stood up straight, towering over the land as it surveyed the region for anything that would interest it. It brought its hand up and glanced at its green, rough skin before bringing up one of its legs and tilting its head to the side as it moved its webbed toes around.

There was a curiosity in its gaze that hinted at an undeniable intelligence, and it finally dropped its limbs and glanced around again, looking for something to move toward.

After finding nothing, it slowly began to trek due west. It did not know why it went this way, and it did not know where it was going. All it knew was that it was born from the ocean, so it was only right that it moved away from there and toward something new. As it moved, only one thought crossed its mind repeatedly:

’What am I?’
