Chapter 475 Lure People's Territory
Chapter 475 Lure People's Territory
Several military vehicles streamed out one after another, and Zhao Yun and Nangong Huang immediately contacted the local government and the Huaxia Embassy through the zoo's phone.
Before long, two armed off-road vehicles of the same model as the one Ludmila was driving roared into view.
The difference was that both vehicles had their roof panels removed, revealing the fierce heavy machine guns on top, and they were filled with Moran mercenaries with their faces camouflaged and fully armed.
"What's going on—where's Ludmila?" a burly mercenary jumped down from the vehicle.
As Zhao Yun was about to explain, a red sedan bearing the Huaxia national flag wobbled into the zoo. A middle-aged civil servant with glasses got out of the car, introduced himself with Embassy credentials, and then listened to Zhao Yun recount the whole incident, together with Moran's mercenaries.
Zhao Yun was eloquent, and he quickly made the causes and consequences crystal clear.
"The damn Iraqi soldiers!" exploded a Moran mercenary. "We come here to help them fight IS and the Kurds, and they dare to kidnap Ludmila!"
"This was not the work of the Iraqi Government Army, but the Lure tribe," the embassy official said soberly. "I hope all parties can maintain calm for the time being. I will immediately go back and consult with the Ambassador Comrade."
"The Lure tribe? Oh no, no, no, I don't know any Lure tribe! This must be the work of IS, it can only be IS! Chekhov, call headquarters and tell those guys they've finally got an excuse to send more people to Iraq and expand our operations. Oh, and I think the President will be happy to hear this news—Russian bombers have been hungry... thirsty for too long!"
With that, the mercenary leader jumped onto the armed off-road vehicle, waved his hand, and roared, "The rest of you, follow me! We can't let the Iraqis kidnap a Russian woman in front of a bunch of Russian men, whether it's the damn Lure or IS! Plus, that girl is our boss!"
Moran's mercenaries raised their guns and shouted wildly. The armed off-road vehicles came and went in a hurry, thundering out of the zoo.
"You two comrades come back with us," said the civil servant as he adjusted his glasses, with a knowing smile, "You can rest assured, we may not be as ostentatious as these Russian mercenaries, but when it comes to the safety of our citizens, the Ambassador will take it seriously. Fortunately, our government has been negotiating with the Iraqi Government recently about the equity distribution of two oil wells."

"Alright," Zhao Yun got into the car of the Huaxia Embassy official, "I'd like to make a few calls back to the province and the capital—I hope to use your secure line."
"Sssss..." Suming slurped back the drool that was about to spill, touched his mouth, looked at the large damp patch on Ludmila's camouflage pants, and chuckled, "Sorry, sorry, it's a bad habit of mine. When we get back, I'll get you a new pair of pants... No, a whole new set, with underwear and outerwear, all designer brands!"
"You can talk about returning later, and don't say I didn't warn you. Any tribe with faith has extremely harsh punishments for those who impersonate gods, and killing is the mildest method," Ludmila said.
"Will you protect me?!" Suming deliberately moved closer and asked with a cheeky grin.
"I will fulfil the duties and obligations of a mercenary, but do you think that will help?" Ludmila nudged her chin towards the platoon of fully armed soldiers in the carriage and whispered, "You better think of a solution quickly."
As they were speaking, the military vehicle stopped, and Amir and Basel appeared outside, "Mr. Su, we're here. Please get off. I'll take you to meet my father, Priest Alayi."
Suming and Ludmila jumped out of the vehicle.
They were at a hollow surrounded by mountains on three sides. Standing on the hillside, they looked down at a fairly large human village or perhaps a town, dotted with many wooden houses, large enough for several thousand people to live in. Under the rising sun, plumes of smoke rose from the rooftops of the village.
Guided by the soldiers, Suming and Ludmila walked into the tribe where the Lure People had lived for generations. Along the way, the lifestyle of the Lure People seemed not as primitive as that of some African tribes, resembling some of the more remote mountain villages in Huaxia, where they could see some obsolete modern equipment.
But guns were the most common sight. Almost every adult male in the tribe carried a rifle on his back.
"Please come in, the High Priest is waiting for you inside," Basel and Amir halted in front of a round-roofed wooden house at the very center of the tribe.
Suming was about to walk in with Ludmila, but Amir stopped Ludmila, saying expressionlessly, "Only he can go in."
"No way, it's my responsibility to protect him, and I can also serve as a translator," Ludmila said.
"My father is a very learned man and doesn't need a translator. Also, this is Lure territory. If my father wanted to harm him, you wouldn't be able to do anything," Amir said.
Ludmila's face darkened, and she was on the verge of losing her temper.
"All right, Amir, you don't have to worry about my safety. On Lure territory, an outsider woman can't harm the Lure High Priest either." A somewhat aged, yet still gentle voice came from inside the room, "Let both guests come in."@@@@
