Chapter 153 The church [ 6 ]
The altar is bathed in golden light and the nine priests' bodies turn into dust and blow away. The high priest sacrificed all of them just to summon an angel. I wonder, can I eat an angel the same way I do the demons?
'Drog, can I eat an angel?'
Drog 'Only if you want to die! Just touching an angel is painful and causes burns to demons.'
'Alright, got it.'
As I turn my attention back to the altar I see a form taking shape within the golden light. Sure enough it is a humanoid figure with feathered wings. I hope it is a male angel, I don't know if I can bring myself to kill a female angel.
Luckily as the form develops it is definitely male so I don't have to worry about that at least. I never asked but I am pretty sure Seronia doesn't have any angels so I wonder where this guy was summoned from. I also would like to know where the high priest gained the knowledge to summon an angel.
'Drog, anything else you can tell me before I fight this guy?'
Drog 'Angels use holy magic for both attack and defense, also they can heal themselves. That's all I know, I've never seen one before.'
Guess I will figure out the rest by fighting him, hopefully he isn't as powerful as the drake. It sure is taking it a long time to form a physical body, I could have attacked dozens of times by now. Maybe I can pump the high priest for some information while I wait.
"Hey, fake priest, how long will this take?"
High Priest says "I am not a fake priest! You insolent cur, the angel will rip you into pieces shortly!"
When he is close enough he starts attacking with both swords, he is doing a sword dance. Thanks to my high agility I am able to parry or dodge all his attacks. When his sword dance fails to hurt me he backs off a few steps and points one finger at me.
Angel says "Holy Light!"
A ray of golden light comes out of his finger and shoots towards me. Curiosity gets the better of me and I let the ray hit me, it causes intense pain but only does a few points of damage. Thanks to pain resist I can tolerate it without showing any signs to my enemy.
Seeing the ray has no effect, the angel stops trying to use it and attacks me with his swords again. Again I block or dodge all his strikes, but this time when I see an opening I punch him in the chest. The angel goes flying back until his back slams into the altar.
The impact turns the altar to rubble and there is a nice big dent in the angel's breastplate. Sounds like he is having trouble breathing, so I am guessing at least broken ribs, and when he stands up it is obvious his wings are broken. He glares at me as blood dribbles from his mouth, I am surprised how much damage he took just from a punch.
Angel says "Full Heal!"
The angel is bathed in golden light and I watch as his wings are repaired. Even his breastplate is fully restored when the light fades away. He is once again in perfect condition, this is going to be more annoying than I had thought.
'That's annoying! I am going to have to kill him in one hit or this will never end.'
Drog 'I told you so!'
'Shut up!'
The angel charges at me and swings both swords again, I dodge as I try to think how to end this fight. The angel has lost his cool, there is now rage and hatred on his face as he tries to cut me down. Out of the corner of my eye I see the high priest pull himself from the rubble of the altar and hide behind the acolytes.
Now I want to kill the angel in one move, either pierce or chop should be strong enough. The problem is the time it takes to set up either move, maybe if I let the angel stab me he will be surprised enough for me to kill him. The problem is I want to kill him without destroying his swords or armor, they could be very useful if I can find myself a paladin.
